If you couldn’t tell by my lack of posts in general and my passive-aggressive remarks when I do, I have been slowly driven away from the arms of my once infatuated lover that is progressive house. I am not going to go into why this has happened as you can probably figure out the reasons if you have been listening to the genre for any significant amount of time. In any case, this post isn’t about me or the direction of my once favorite genre, it is about a producer that is actually fairly unique. One that doesn’t just stick to a single formula and has a multitude of styles. This producer is Kings & Others, a 22 year old from the Caribbean.

Having been producing for six years, his releases are fairly frequent and well done. They range from funky, disco inspired tracks to upbeat, summery tracks. You can never guess which style he will go to next but you can be sure it won’t be generic. Even with over 25 tracks, he has only accumulated 200 followers on Soundcloud and has received practically no support, with the one exception being from Monsieur Adi. I figure it’s time artists like him start getting rewarded instead of the ones taking the easy route of making forgettable big room and progressive house tracks. I am fully aware that many of you still very much enjoy the pop music that is passing as progressive house these days and that’s cool, I do too. Within a few weeks I’ll probably be loving the new Avicii album and whatever generic stuff I come across on Soundcloud but for now I’m not. If anyone else is currently feeling the way I do then I hope Kings & Others can provide you with a little bit of a fresh air in this crowded house scene. My two favorites are below as well as more of his best work after the break. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention this but all of his tracks are free.
