Events, Review | 5 Things I Learned and Saw At Electric Adventure

Posted by on August 22, 2013

Zeds DeadIn a little Throwback Thursday edition of event reviews, we have Electric Adventure, the 2-day festival that took place at Six Flags, in New Jersey over the 3rd and 4th of August. It combined a bass and trap heavy lineup, with some of the premier roller coasters on the eastern seaboard, giving you an experience where your adrenaline was always pumping, unless you were waiting in line for rides. The lineup was well rounded with guys like Dillon Francis, Seven Lions, GTA, 12th Planet and Zeds Dead all performing over the 2 days. Click past the jump for a few photos and some things I learned and saw at the festival.

Events | Electric Adventure Announces Full Lineup, Tickets Still on Sale

Posted by on July 19, 2013

Electric Adventure 2013 Electric Adventure painfully announced the lineup one name at a time, culminating in Seven Lions being the final artist added to a bass heavy roster fit for an American festival. The recently expanded, two-day festival being held at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson New Jersey, boasts names like Dillon Francis, GTA, Seven Lions, Doctor P, Figure, Zeds Dead and a live show from Destroid. You can see the full lineup on the poster above. One of the finer things about the lineup is that it has scheduled breaks in between for you to go enjoy the rides with DJs like DJ Bl3nd taking over the decks. With all of this heavy bass music coming to Six Flags, I can’t wait to see all of the terrified looks on parents faces when they first see all of these kids running around in neon, yolo trucker hats and other obscene apparel that covers almost no skin, and then hear the screeching dubstep come blaring out of the Electric Adventure area. Should be a blast and a clash of cultures. The park will also be open late for people who bought Electric Adventure tickets, so you will have an extra 2 hours, until midnight, to ride roller coasters before slinking on home. Tickets are still on sale so grab them before they are gone.

Events | Electric Adventure expands to two days, August 3rd & 4th

Posted by on April 24, 2013

Electric AdventureAfter a resounding success last year, one of the more unique festivals on the Eastern seaboard, Electric Adventure, returns for its second edition at Six Flags in Jackson, New Jersey, this time expanding to two days to give revelers more time for the edm / roller coaster action they crave. The match made in heaven of roller coasters and a great lineup, then toss in the obvious mix of drugs and alcohol and you have yourself one of the sleeper US festivals this summer. Since it is two days, I would recommend getting a fast pass to cut the lines because time is money my friends and you don’t want to be that guy standing in line for Superman or Bizarro, while your favorite DJ is shredding and then hearing about it up until Electric Zoo. Get your tickets now before they sell out and the lineup will be announced soon.

Events, Review | Electric Adventure: Dance Music Soars at Six Flags

Posted by on October 13, 2012

With the sounds of “Bizarro”, the new and improved Medusa from my childhood rumbling in the background, Arty’s blissful melodies poured out of the speakers, carrying the crowd to another dimension. I could only stand there in disbelief at what I was witnessing. Six Flags, a mecca of my childhood, a place where I had gone on countless field trips, was now hosting one of my favorite producers, Arty.

The idea was first championed earlier this year in May at Six Flags in Mexico where Dash Berlin was brought in to bring together two activities that rely on the peak time exhilarating moment and take you on unforgettable journeys. It was a logical match. The New Jersey version uped the ante, bringing in not just Russian phenom, but also young rising sensation Danny Avila, Lazy Rich, Dada Life, Excision and others.

The day (and night) was not just for the various DJs playing their sets. And though you would be remiss not to catch part of Danny Avila’s set as he makes his rise to prominence or Lazy Rich’s incredibly complex productions and hard hitting electro or Arty’s uplifting melodies, one must always remember that you are at an amusement park and you are there to take in the full experience.

Dada Life headlined the night from 7-9 starting and finishing with “Kick Out The Epic MotherF*cker” and spinning through a few songs like “So Young, So High” and “Boing Clash Boom” from their upcoming album “The Rules Of Dada” set to release Monday. It was as energetic and exhilarating as you would expect, with the sun setting during their set, letting the full display finally being used. Also they were given the ability to turn up the volume, which was a bit low during the other sets. I have seen Dada Life four times since March and every time has been a blast, however I wish they would take a few more risks in their mixing. I know they have to sync up the visuals with their songs and they have to keep up the stage theatrics, but doing something unexpected or surprising would be a welcome change from them.

Overall the event was a truly a roller coaster, for lack of a better term, of a journey. The contrast between the families with very young kids and the kids walking around in typical raver outfits was rather comical. The looks some of the kids got were priceless. A few suggestions for next year would be to get a raised sound system and get a few more LED panels, though generally it went off without a hitch. The overall feeling is that this must happen again and after an incredible successful first year, dance music and roller coasters is a match that will continue to grow stronger in the future.

Events | Arty, Dada Life & Co. take over Six Flags Great Adventure

This is pure genius. House music and roller coasters, it is a match made in heaven. Six Flags was a staple of my childhood, with class trips heading down to Jackson, NJ to enjoy such great rides like Nitro, Kingda Ka , Superman, Batman and more (Kingda Ka either had a 6 hour line or was broken). With Dada Life, Arty, Lazy Rich, Excision, Super Mash Bros & Dj Bl3nd bringing the party to the revelers of this great amusement park on Saturday October 6th from 12pm until 11pm, this will be a day you would not forget. Just imagine doing whatever it is you do for a typical Alesso, Arty or Lazy Rich concert and then going on a really fast roller coaster — whoa. You know you want to go. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 24th at noon.
