Hip-Hop, Rap | Saba – Burnout (ft. Eryn Allen Kane)

Posted by on October 27, 2014

A few months ago I featured the Chicago emcee Saba for his single “Burnout”. Now the standout from the project has some accompanying visuals. The paper mache, animated scenes make Saba’s performance footage that much more interesting and show his ride through a dystopian Chicago landscape in a lens that could not have been predicted.

For any Los Angeles fans, Saba will be opening for the A$AP Mob as a part of Red Bull’s 30 Days in Concert series on November the 30th. Be sure to stop by, and enjoy the video from one of Chicago’s fastest rising stars.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes, Rap | Saba – ComfortZone (Mixtape)

The day is finally upon us. After a fantastic rollout filled with excited singles, features, videos and tastes of what was to come, we have the whole meal. ComfortZone is the hard work of Chicago emcee, Saba. It’s difficult to categorize Saba as a hip-hop artist when so much of the ComfortZone is soulful and a near-R&B sound.

It is refreshing to see something so emotion-filled and different coming on to the scene. So, do yourself a favor and stop shmoney dancing for a minute to enjoy Saba’s ComfortZone.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Saba – Butter

Posted by on July 3, 2014

People who follow my postings on Fresh New Tracks, should not be surprised to see the name, Saba, appear. The straight-firing Chicago emcee has had a constant stream of music being released over the past few weeks, each song preparing listeners even more for the final body of work it fits in to.

“Butter” is his newest song and video, which flows from his mouth to your ears as smooth as –dare I say– butter. Saba touches on his family life, and other subjects close to the heart all while keeping the song positive and an enjoyable listen.

Stream the song below, and give the video a look here, if you’re interested.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop, Rap | Saba – Burnout (ft. Eryn Allen Kane)

A few weeks back we brought you “401k” by Chicagoan, Saba. The song was a deep, dark, and raw hip-hop track. With “Burnout”, we see a different side of Saba. While he undoubtedly stays true to himself with meaningful story telling, he is also able to show a more upbeat and easily-digestible side of his music.

Each line has a languid feel to it, while still packing the punch it should. Eryn Allen Kane chimes in beautifully with each hook to round out an already impressive song.

“Burnout” has been floating around the internet for nearly two weeks already; don’t wait any longer to listen.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Saba – 401k

Perhaps not known by name to many, Saba has surely made a statement for himself amongst the Chicago rap scene. In “401k” he tells a sad story shared by many kids coming up in Chi-town. Despite good grades, his environment held him back from excelling in a job setting, and led right back to the street life.

Traded a 401k for an AK

Saba spits with conviction, and although there is some fine-tuning that needs to be done, it’s clear that this young man will be riding the Chicago rap wave for the foreseeable future.
