Progressive House | Tom Staar & Ansolo – Totem
Posted by Middy on July 22, 2014
I told you the story of Ansolo and FNT in my last post so it is incredible to see him with his mentor Tom Staar releasing a tune on one of the most prestigious dance labels around, Size Records. We have seen a return to the bounce in dance music, not just what Melbourne has been doing for quite some time that is making waves across the world, but also groovier bass lines finding their way back into big time dance music. This tune has it all with an irresistible low end and a surprisingly soothing melody all wrapped up with strong tribal influences. It has already hit number 10 on the iTunes dance chart, so grab “Totem” below.

Progressive House | Hook N Sling ft. Karin Park – Tokyo By Night (Axwell Remix)
Posted by Middy on April 28, 2014
There are no words to describe just how mindblowingly good this song is. “Tokyo By Night” has been floating around the internet for close to three years, in classic Axwell fashion, but now you can buy it on Beatport. It rivals “Payback” for the tune of the year and as of now, a race that should go neck and neck well into the summer. This is about as close as you get to perfection. The only way this doesn’t go Beatport number one is if Dimitri Vegas & Like buy enough “Tremor” enough to keep it at the top.

Progressive House | Klingande – Jubel (Martell Bootleg)
Posted by Mel on March 14, 2014
Martin Fjaestad, a 19 year old Swedish producer has just released his bootleg of the much beloved “Jubel” by Klingande. He has kept the signature saxophone as well as a large portion of the original but has made it even more melodic with a huge progressive melody that takes over the build and the drop. Overall, the original is probably better but this holds up pretty well against it.

Progressive House | The Chainsmokers vs. Tove Lo – Habits
Posted by Mel on January 7, 2014
With their latest remix of Tove Lo’s “Habits”, The Chainsmokers wanted to find the middle ground between the bass heavy, hardstyle kick filled festival tracks that we all love even though they all sound the same, and the more typical progressive sound that they are accustomed to. They successfully did that by having multiple distinct drops that incorporate both of those sounds. The drops progress into one another creating an interesting, dynamic track while fulfilling their desire to explore the festival realm. They’ve released a very large number of tracks in the past year so it’s hard to rank them but I would say this is one of their better ones.
