A sound similar to those of Wave Racer, Trippy Turtle, and Cashmere Cat, 813 throws down an insane mix, even previewing of one of his new songs. It is funny to see Jersey Club getting some recognition by the national dance music audience. Growing up in Jersey it and baltimore club were the sound of kids beat-boxing at lunch, creating spontaneous dance battles anywhere, anytime. On this remix Vinnie fuses the bass line impeccably with the soulful, baby-making original from Bobby Caldwell, adding stutters and pitch changes throughout the song. DJ-Set, Progressive House | Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman BBC Radio One Guest Mix

Steve Angello kicked off his new residency on BBC Radio One last night and the first ever guest mixer he had on the show was none other than our friends, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman. Favorites of Steve, the duo have been on his radar for some time now remixing “People Of The Night“, collabing with Size signee, AN21, on “Rebel“, duo out on the 20th and probably most famously, actually collabing with the man himself for their upcoming single “Payback”. If you have not heard a live rip of “Payback” yet, well take the time to listen all the way through and get a peak at what may be the biggest track this year.
The guest mix features 5 unreleased tracks of 7, 4 from them and 1 one from a new duo from somewhere in this great wide world. The mix climaxes with “Payback”, but before we get to that point, they kick things off with one of three never before heard, unreleased tunes, “Zonk” that combines the bouncy bass line and horn sound that has been popular in 2013 with the fine melodies we know they can craft. The other two are just next level stuff. These need to be out to the world in properly ASAP, but with their history releasing tracks, we can only hope these IDs will be released this decade, at least before 2048. Tracklist after the jump.

One cool thing that happened to me this year was that I got hired on to write for FNT. I have followed this website for years and it has led me to mountains of great music. I’m glad that I now have the opportunity to share music with the website. This year I became a bigger fan of mixes; I love to see what artists can do when given an extended period of time within which they can be creative. Below is the list of 10 mixes that I liked the most from this past year, with some other mixes mentioned at the end that didn’t make this list based on who knows what. The list is more or less ranked in order, with mix #1 definitely being my favourite. If you don’t want to listen to all of the mixes, and don’t care what I have to say about them, then skip ahead and at least listen to the number 1 mix – Space Jams by The M Machine (hence the above, cool picture of those guys).
