Trap | Henrix & Jakob Liedholm – Close Your Eyes (Flaxo Remix)
Posted by BP on July 26, 2013
Flaxo made a really unique track here. It switches back and forth from bumpin’ trap to melodic vocal breakdown sections and it comes together impeccably. He did a great job of making sure the vocals got to shine while still making a trap song you could dance to. His flip on the original house anthem is very creative, and lucky for us, out for free!

Progressive House | Alexander Technique & Disco Killah Feat. Luca Masinsky – Skyscraper (Laidback Luke Remix)
Posted by Middy on July 20, 2013
Calling on his “Ones To Watch” label pool, Laidback Luke has decided to remix the release from Alexander Techinque & Disco Killah. Having already stated that he would silence the haters (not sure who would hate on Luke), he has moved from his tougher tracks like “Pogo” and “Dynamo” to more melodic stuff for the second half of the year. The superbly talented Dutchman he gives us a remix fit for the biggest rooms, with soaring melodies, while still keeping it grounded in his signature sound, calling on his hallmark key play and bass line. The big room scene can become a bit generic at times, but if Laidback Luke is putting his talents back into the ring, expect some things to be shaken up as he always brings a new perspective.

Ambient, Dubstep | Dubvirus – Breathe (Haywyre Remix)
Posted by BP on July 19, 2013
Haywre’s remix of Dubvirus’s “Breathe” is soothing and melodic. To say the least, the percussion in this remix is outstanding. Haywyre said that Dubvirus asked him to remix this song for his birthday, and he did a fantastic job with Dubvirus’s already impressive track. The song is up for free download and is also a part of Haywre’s “A Song Per Week” project. Both are worth checking out!
Dubstep, Trap | Sound Remedy – Chiaroscuro

Sound Remedy’s new track is quite unique. The track starts out in his signature melodic dubstep style, but takes an unexpected turn into trap about 2 minutes in. It’s generated mixed opinions on his SoundCloud, some even claiming that it ruined the song. I liked the twist and how it brings energy to the song. The blending of genres was executed very smoothly and definitely keeps the listener intrigued. It’s always cool to see artists experimenting with new sound combinations.

Hip-Hop, RnB | Trey Palms – I Hate You
Posted by admin on July 12, 2013
I’ve been following Trey Palms for quite some time now, and his most recent song “I Hate You” is without a doubt some of his best work to date. Seeing as I have a slight predisposition for melodic, R&B tracks I could be a bit biased, however, the hip-hop crossover record that Palms has crafted is likely to appeal to a wide range of audiences. He harmonizes his first two verses, warbling in a slight auto-tuned, yet full-emotion manor. Then, on the third and final verse he flips back to his rapping where he wraps up the song with a few well-delivered bars.
Although I can’t say I’ve been a fan of every single song that Trey Palms has ever released, he is surely making a mark in my mind and heading in the right direction.

Trance | ilan Bluestone & Jerome Isma-Ae – Under My Skin
Posted by Middy on June 24, 2013
As Anjunabeats moves on from its well-documented landmark 10th compilation released in March, first with Norin & Rad‘s “Bird Is The Word“ last week, they look to another label favorite in ilan Bluestone, who teams up with Jerome Isma-Ae to give us the hauntingly beautiful “Under My Skin“. First capturing the imagination of trance fans in Miami as the most saught after ID in Above & Beyond‘s UMF set, “Under My Skin” combines soothing, emotive strings and piano, with a pulsing, yet melodic synth driven drop, that makes this one of the standout releases on Above & Beyond’s label thus far this year. ilan Bluestone has been a steady riser on scene in the past year or two with a bevy or remixes and originals on Anjunabeats and Armada, including his heavily supported remix for BT‘s “Skylarking“, while Jerome Isma-Ae has long cemented himself as one of the stable forces in trance and progressive. This is a dynamite release from Anjunabeats so do not skip this one.
House, Progressive House | Pryda – Rotonda (Preview)
Posted by Middy on June 18, 2013
Having just released “Layers” yesterday, the melodic master, Eric Prydz, returns to his Pryda moniker and reaches into the vault for one of his most requested tracks and finishes it off for release on Monday. “Rotonda” has been a cult favorite for years now and having been played out in its full form in EPIC Radio 008, we are now on the cusp of its release. With this coming on Monday, “Layers” released yesterday and his “Let Me Feel” dub set for release soon, Pryda is making his statement about the summer he will be having. You may notice it has the same artwork as “Layers”, because the 25th release was split up into 25 and 25.5 over two Mondays.
