Dubstep, Trap | Skrux – Escapade
Posted by BP on March 8, 2014
Skrux is killin’ it with the lovetrap! “Escapade” is an original track which could be called something like melodic trap. Emotions run strong in the vocal samples chosen and chord progression. The chords crescendo into a melody that will stick with you long after listening, and Skrux threw in a surprise around 3:50. I’m happy to see Skrux getting more recognition lately. He clearly deserves it. Grab this one for free!

Dubstep | Deathcab for Cutie – Transatlanticism (Collin McLoughlin Remix)
Posted by BIGLIFE on February 26, 2014
Collin McLoughlin is the king of melodic dubstep. There’s no question about it. He can write. He can produce. He can sing. He can even DJ. What does the guy not do at this point? When we heard he was releasing a “Transatlanticsm” remix we didn’t know what to think. What Collin’s come up with here is serious business. Not only is this remix beautiful, we’ve heard rumor that a huge collaboration is in the works. There’s no question that Collin’s star is quickly rising. Keep an eye out for our exclusive FreshNewTracks.com interview with him coming next week.
Progressive House | Flight Facilities – I Didn’t Believe (Special Features Remix)
Posted by Middy on February 22, 2014
Special Features has been dormant for quite some time, hidden away in the lab concocting some fire that is finally ready to be shared to the world. His tracks are constantly being held up by labels and various other delays, but at last he is able to unveil his latest remix as a free download. Special Features has dabbled in many different styles of the progressive house, from an upbeat, nu-disco influenced sound to a more synth oriented sound. With his remix of Flight Facilities “I Didn’t Believe” he fuses the two with a cheery, bright synth lead in a strong melody. Grab the freebee below and hopefully we will get more from Special Features in 2o14.

Trap | $aturn – Cross Roads ft. Skrux
Posted by BP on February 21, 2014
The combination of $aturn and Skrux caught my attention immediately, and I knew this would be a good track. $aturn has been putting out a good bunch of “lovetrap” style songs recently, and getting Skrux involved could only make them better. In this track called “Cross Roads ft. Skrux” each drop is different and exciting. While remaining melodic, this original trap song takes many twists and turns. Personally, my favorite drop is around 2:30. Scoop this one up for free on Facebook!

Progressive House | Fareoh – Pandora
Posted by Middy on February 21, 2014
Fareoh recently broke his silence with the debut release “Run Away” on his newly founded label “Pyramid Scheme”. Now he follows up that Beatport release with a freebee. This one goes for more a banger style instead of the more melodic stuff he is known for, whether it is progressive house or more recently dubstep, adding some tasteful big room to the tune. Grab the freebee from Fareoh below for your weekend.

Progressive House | Kill FM ft. Leah Hayes – Lies (Melodic Mix)
Posted by Mel on February 19, 2014
The Swedish production duo by the name of Kill FM released their original mix of “Lies” a little over a week ago and to celebrate, are giving away their melodic mix to that very track. If you are familiar with the original, the melodic mix is literally the same exact thing, with the only difference being the drop. Kill FM, brilliantly named, is known for their bass heavy take on electro house and that is what the original song was. The melodic mix, however, is exactly what it sounds like, uplifting. Also, possibly melodic. The drop seems to fit more naturally in this version making it my preferred of the two.

House | Groove Armada & Brodanse ft. Cari Golden – Sweat (Live City Remix)
Posted by Middy on February 19, 2014
Live City have built a solid reputation on more melodic and hard electro tunes, dating back to their debut EPs. With this remix however, they flip the script, going for something groovier and more minimal, as they describe “to make you dance”. The take the funky original from Groove Armada and inject their own energy with some cowbell and a more upbeat bass line. Grab the freebee below.
