I hadn’t heard anything from Magnus & Timon for quite some time and lo and behold it was because they had split up and Timon is producing on his own. Two of the many people giving away tracks for Christmas is the French duo Magnus & Timon. Up until a couple of months ago, they had not released a track all year but since then they have now released six. I am a huge fan of these guys so this gives me great pleasure. The kind of pleasure only two French men can give to another man. Two originals and one remix is what they have given away and all of them are good, but the two originals are great. “Kepler”, the melodic one, and “Onyx”, the more hard hitting one are both lacking in vocals but they don’t need them, they are both outstanding songs on their own. Their Dada Life remix is good as well but the other two clearly stand above it.

Progressive House | Magnus & Timon feat. MAGE – By Myself

After a 10 month hiatus, Magnus & Timon returned a few weeks ago with a free track entitled “Svart” and they have just released another one. Like “Svart”, “By Myself” lends itself more to live events with the clubbier drop, but because of the superb vocals of MAGE and the indie popish break, it also makes for good listening in any situation. This is their first track that is not free so if you are a fan think about maybe supporting them.

After taking some time off to work on their studio and get their career on the right track with some labels, French duo Magnus & Timon are back with a new single “Svart” to remind their fans why they liked them in the first place. “Svart” has a nice blend of club and festival elements, lending to more live side of their sounds. French producers Magnus & Timon have developed a small but significant stable of quality progressive house remixes of recent hits like The Temper Trap’s “Trembling Hands“, “Walking Alone” and more. For their first original, they decided to go a different route. They start off with what sounds to be another uplifting progressive track with an excellent vocal bit, but it drops off into break of a heavy, but not overwhelming dose of a grungy massive pack, giving the track a whole new dimension and giving a taste of the diversity in these young guy’s sound.

The legendary Benny Benassi shows us just how good a producer he is with this remix, displaying his versatility with different sounds, while still bringing us back to the sound that we initially fell in love with from the Milan star. He takes his time building the track’s with emotive strings, while using the vocals to his advantage bringing the song’s emotion to a peak. He then adds his signature flavor to the track without losing the melody and going overboard on the drop. It is subtle, yet just what the doctor ordered for this track. “Trembling Hands” has now seen two spectacular remixes, first from Magnus & Timon and now Benny Benassi. Don’t be surprised to hear this from time to time this summer.

French duo Magnus & Timon building off of the success of their widely supported “Walking Alone” remix and their “Somebody I Used to Know” remix, have released another great remix, this time of The Temper Trap, who’s “Sweet Disposition” became the target of Dirty South & Axwell in their sublime remix of the song. They craft a build with quick snare, manipulation of the vocals, creating an ominous beginning with quick key strokes that creates a great anticipation for the eventual drop. The first drop kicks in the same elements of the build with a growling synth underneath that is featured prominently. The interlude evokes the vocals from the original track, bringing us the second and longer break of the track with an unmistakable synth melody with the growling undertone and a thumping bass that gives the track a steady climb all the way to the end. I have had this track on repeat for the past several days, helping me get through the work day and I am confident that this will become a regular in your rotation very quickly.
