House | Jacques Lu Cont

Posted by on February 19, 2012

The return of Stuart Price, the enigmatic British Producer/ Dj / Remixer has been noticed by quite a few in the EDM community. He is a man who has been producing under his own name as well as monikers such as Paper Faces, Les Rythmes Digitales and Jacques Lu Cont since the early 1990s. It was no accident that he opened for Swedish House Mafia at Madison Square Garden. He had a great set and is ready to make waves this year. His soundcloud currently only has three songs, though his discography is much more rigorous. “Church” has been heavily supported by Pete Tong among others and his remix of Miike Snow’s “Paddling Out” is expected to one of the highlights of the remix package. Jacques Lu Cont is already booked for Coachella, is playing with Axwell during Miami Music Week and plenty of other shows coming into what should be a busy festival season for the resurgent Jacques Lu Cont. He has a prototypical french house sound with upbeat french disco and some heavier electro coming from some obvious Daft Punk influences.

DJ-Set, House | Swedish House Mafia Essential Selection 2/17/12

Posted by on February 18, 2012

Swedish House Mafia took over Pete Tong’s legendary Essential Selection show for the second time last night, revealing some information about upcoming songs and played tracks from a whole variety of genres from progressive to tech to electro to indie. They talk a fair amount about Los Angeles, where Steve Angello has been living and working for the past 4 years and what makes it so special. Deadmau5 came on the show to do a guest mix, talk about what is in store for 2012. They played a fair amount of unreleased tracks, including Alesso’s new single “Years” (above), Nari & Milani’s “Atom”, the vocal version of Alesso & Sebastian Ingrosso’s anthemic track “Calling” now called “Losing My Mind” (below) and Steve Angello’s finished copy of his signature track “Yeah“, which is quite different from what he has been playing out for the better part of a year. They also revealed the name of the new Swedish House Mafia single premiered at Madison Square Garden, “Greyhound“, which is slightly different from the version played there, but it is still an amazing song. Tracklist for the show after the jump.

Progressive House | Hard Rock Sofa – Quasar

Posted by on February 13, 2012

After what was thought to be a much longer wait for the release of this song, Axtone decided to put it up to the fans when they wanted this song to be released and today was the day decided for this absolutely massive song that ever since its playing by Swedish House Mafia at Madison Square Garden has been one of the most anticipated tracks to be released in 2012. Originally 3 members, 2 Dj/producers and 1 singer who worked primarily in a rock band, Hard Rock Sofa has evolved ever since the singer left with the two Dj/producers to make the massive electro / progressive songs that they have become increasingly famous for making. “Quasar” takes them to the next level with a build that almost lulls you to sleep and then an insanely powerful drop that hits you like a ton of bricks. This widely supported track is definitely going to be a keeper from the rising Russian duo.

DJ-Set, Events | Swedish House Mafia @ MSG 12/16/11

Posted by on December 17, 2011

Last night was history, and millions of people around the world with 20,000 in attendance were able to witness Swedish House Mafia becoming the first electronic act to ever headline the historic Madison Square Garden and brought that place to another universe. There are simply no words to describe what happened at Madison Square Garden last night it was that good. Their stage presence was off the charts, the visuals and effects were unreal with fireworks (whaaaaat inside MSG!?!?!) and the song choice and mixing was outrageous. It was the true live experience with all 20,000 people in the crowd belting out the lyrics and melodies to all the songs with Tinie Tempah AND John Martin showing up to do vocals for “Miami to Ibiza” and “Save the World”. The only thing missing was Pharrel doing the vocal version of “One” and the roof may have come down. They played a bunch of upcoming stuff on Size and Axtone and possibly a new song of theirs at the very beginning that was incredible. Listening to this set does not do the night justice, only being there would be true justice to what happened last night, but enjoy this set because it was f*cking incredible. Tracklist after the jump.
UPDATED with a working stream and full video of show.
