Electro-House | Congorock & Stereo Massive ft. Sean Paul – Bless Di Nation (Remixes)
Posted by Middy on January 8, 2013
The original pairing of Rocco Rampino better known professionally as Congorock and Sean Paul, a man who has struggled to stay relevant for quite some time was a head scratcher at first, but the results were actually quite good. However the track was just begging for a remix package with Sean Paul’s very reusable vocal bit. Congorock starts us off with his distorted electro synths and thumping bass line. Valentino Khan provides an eclectic mix of a quick alternating bass line and pitched vocal bits, while GTA mixes in some dubstep to their unique offering. Firebeatz delivers the standout remix with a high-powered drop of driving electro synths that are sure to grab your attention immediately.

Electro-House | Henrix – Rock & Rave
Posted by Middy on December 30, 2012
Henrix, like many other DJs is feeling generous during the holiday season and has decided to give away a brand new original to cap off a totally transformative year that saw a total name and brand change, now is entering 2013 under the moniker Henrix — one of the fastest rising American house producers with his track “Hit It” coming out soon on Size Records and another with Jakob Leidholm & Zashanell “Close Your Eyes”. “Rock & Rave” continues the same trend of quick alternating percussion we see in other Henrix tracks, but with a rolling acid bass line and a slow, ominous interlude that makes this one stand out.

Progressive House | The XX – Fiction (Funkagenda Bootleg Re-Edit)
Posted by Middy on December 26, 2012
Britain native, Funkagenda has released his much requested bootleg, remix of The XX’s “Fiction” that had originally been slated for an official release, but now is being given out as a Christmas gift by himself and his label, Funk Farm. Funkagenda is able to capture impeccably the smooth, easygoing essence of the original, notably the ethereal guitar melody and build on that with a similar synth chord progression and a slow chugging bass line.

Electro-House | Keane – Sovereign Light Café (Afrojack Remix)
Posted by Middy on December 24, 2012
With Alesso remixing Keane’s very successful single “Silenced By The Night” to rave reviews, it was only a matter of time before another big name producer got their hands on a Keane track and made it their own. Afrojack slowly builds with a slow easy piano and the outstanding vocals from lead singer Tom Chaplin and then adds a blistering drop of pitched synths and a fast moving bass line. On the heals of his chart topping single “Annie’s Theme” and his upcoming remix for one billion youtube views “Gangnam Style”, as well as hosting a huge Jacked event on Pier 94 to ring in the New Year, Afrojack is continuing to assert his worldwide dominance on dance music.
Progressive House | Fedde Le Grand – RAW
Posted by Middy on December 24, 2012
Fedde Le Grand never disappoints with incredibly varied and unique productions and coming off of the heals of a wide array of collaborations with Nicky Romero & Deniz Koyu among others, the Dutch Star presents his follow up solo effort to “So Much Love” just in time for Christmas. “RAW” keeps with the same style of chugging bass lines that we are accustomed to seeing in most other Fedde Le Grand originals, while adding a fast moving Daft Punkesque top line and gruff undertones, making this a perfect club track to finish out the year.

Trance | Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge – DUI
Posted by Middy on December 20, 2012
As the follow up to their highly successful single “Mansion”, fellow British trance producers Gareth Emery and Ashley Wallbridge team up once more to finish out the year with “DUI”. Gareth Emery has put out some of the biggest trance tracks in the past 12 months like “Concrete Angel”, the aforementioned “Mansion”, and “Tokyo”, and “DUI” falls into that driving, uplifting style that he has espoused and become so well known for. “DUI” shines with its quick key play, fast paced bass line and big, uplifting drop aided with a powerful snare. The release on this song was delayed which is odd because it is Gareth Emery’s own label, but I guess at a certain point, those decisions are taken out of his hands..
