Events | Markus Schulz Kicks Off the North American SCREAM Tour with Support from KhoMha and The M Machine

Hot off of his monster New World Punx set at Madison Square Garden at the end of March, Markus Schulz takes to the road this evening to kick off his massive (and first ever) U.S. bus tour. With coast-to-coast stops in a number of major cities, there’s plenty of opportunity to catch Markus, KhoMha, and The M Machine over the next month. What can you expect? Markus’s distinctive brand of dark, relentless trance, some hard and techy goodness from Coldharbour protege KhoMha, and the fascinating and high-energy cocktail of house, electro and dubstep that The M Machine are rapidly becoming known for. All told, this is a diverse lineup comprised of artists notorious for pushing the envelope musically. Well, and in other ways, too; to quote Markus, “Am I going to be getting behind the wheel of the Markus Schulz tour bus at some point? Australian Cover Girls Mim and Liv, aka Nervo, fresh off of the release of their single with Omarion “Army“, release their latest track “Hold On“, a high energy vocal single sure to elevate their sets. The rise to stardom for the Nervo twins has been well documented, starting by writing songs for big pop stars and even some of the biggest EDM artists, to now as established rising stars with strings of huge releases over the past few years, propelling them onto MainStages all across the globe and making them one of the hottest (literally) duos around. Coming off of the release of “Stellar“, Italian duo Daddy’s Groove team up with Italian trio Cryogenix to release this high energy track on David Guetta led Jack Back Records. “Vertigo” uses ominous builds that lead into a simple, yet effective drop of thunderous percussion, a pounding bass line and the occasional electro stutter. This festival sized cut is yet another track that is among the many tracks we are seeing now that espouse hard hitting, percussive drops, designed to do the most damage on the biggest of stages.

Carnage has been on a roll recently with tracks like “Incredible” and his festival remix of “Spaceman” still seeing a fair amount of air time and KillaGraham has been quiet this year, but with a bevy of productions to finish out 2012, the former DEFEP member has shown plenty of promise coming into this year. Showing their appreciation for the fans, Carnage & KillaGraham have given out for free this high energy electro track that sneaks up you with a slow progressive build, emphasizing the female vocals and then crescendoes into a high powered drop of driving pitched synths and thumping bass.

Electro-House | Wolfgang Gartner – Anaconda

With his latest release, Wolfgang Gartner demonstrates that he’s willing to separate himself from the pack and do something a bit out of the box. “Anaconda” is a bouncy, funked-out jangle of a track, replete with “Space Junk”-esque leads and house-inspired riffs. It’s a fun and high energy journey from start to finish that is sure to get you moving.

When they’re not busy making feel good, rub yourself music, the furry browed duo of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, also known as The Chainsmokers, spend their days walking around NYC boasting a rather impressive 17.34 inches between the two of them (whatever that means). They have somehow managed to stay off of chat roulette and Riley Steele videos (I didn’t know who she was either. I took one for the team and after a quick 20 minute search came to the conclusion that these guys are into ugly chicks) long enough to create another remix. If there’s one thing I like more than when a below average looking girl sits next to me, but less than a lot of other things, it’s their previous remix of “Around Us”. That track was met with much acclaim, earning over 100k plays on Soundcloud. Their latest remix strays from that formula a little bit. Instead of going for an uplifting, euphoric feeling, they took Two Door Cinema Club’s “Sleep Alone” and added progressive elements while keeping the indie feel intact. The result is a high energy, summertime house track. Enjoy.

Jakob Liedholm, one of our artists to watch in 2013, recently hit 10000 likes on Facebook and as way of saying thanks, he has given away three of his tracks for free. Keeping consistent with his signature style, all three of these tracks are the type of cheerful, uplifting tunes that you would come to expect from him. Ranging from the unique use of guitar throughout “Eli”, to the high energy build in his and Tim Norell’s remix of Parker Ighile’s “So Beautiful”, to the amazing, bigroom drop in “Ocean”, these are all must listens.
