EDX has a knack for finding an elusive middle ground between chill progressive records and anthemic festival tracks. With “Touched” he has done just that as this track sounds like it was transported straight from a Croatian beach in 2008 with its blissful melodies, atmospheric synths, and well-oiled bass lines. It is the ideal blend of a smooth progressive track with the right amount of energy to carry it all the way to end. Perfect for the late night.

This is quite a few days of remixes with R3hab, Jacob Plant & Michael Woods lending their services for Calvin Harris & Example’s “We’ll Be Coming Back” remix package, tomorrow’s “Spectrum” remix package and today’s remix package of EDX’s hit single off if his album “On The Edge” with rising stars Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman & Swiss Duo Leventina providing their talents for the package. Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman stray a bit from their uplifting progressive sound and create their heaviest remix to date with a thumping bass line and pulsing synth chords that still remain a bit progressive, but the growling undertones give the song an edgier sound. Leventina go for the anthem sound with a big room, hands in the air drop with the occasional signature Leventina electro stab to add texture to the melody. They use Nadia Ali’s vocals impeccably with slow, emotional, piano driven builds. Both remixes use the parts of the original in different fashions and create new and great sounding songs.

House | Lift Off #002

We start things off in the second edition of Lift Off with New York producer duo, Mysto & Pizzi who has garnered some serious remix duties for Kaskade, Avicii now are taking their production to the next level for Swiss producer / DJ EDX. They add more to the melody of the track with a soothing chord progression, accentuating John Williams’ stellar vocals.

Feenixpawl & Ivan Gough add their progressive flare with a drop of a well composed synth melody and a driving bass line to Adrian Lux’s single “Burning” with Dante on the vocals.

Frenchman Michael Canitrot has released a great new single with Polina on the vocals combining melodic synth chord with growling undertones, creating a powerful and energetic track. TV Noise, known for their song with Julian Jordan, “Oxford” keeps much of the melody, while adding more of an electro house feel to it.
Eitro clarifies his talent with a catchy melody that builds into an abundance of alleviating sounds. Also be sure to watch out for “Love 2.0” coming out August 6th.

Swedish rising stars (there are so many right?) Dimitri Vangelis and Wyman are back with another remix after showing us the last time that they can make remixes with the best them. Their tracks have been consistently supported by the crème de la crème of Djs so you know they have what it takes. They have been building a reputation for euphoric, hands in air, progressive house tracks with incredibly melodic leads that stir the deepest part of the soul, and this remix uses that framework but is a part tougher and takes a bit more of a brusque approach to it. This is what they describe as their “hardest” remix yet, so hit play and check it out. Have to love the long preview, which is nice when some record labels and artists give 1:30 previews so we can’t really know what is happening in the song. Release of this remix soon.

This collaboration between the distinguished Dinka and the laudable Leventina is something you don’t want to miss from label aptly named Enormous Tunes. The build hits you with moving synths with quick key work and a varying clap that starts a great rhythm for the track. The song crescendos into a break of pulsing pitched synths and driving electro house synths that show the influence of both artists. We have featured Leventina a few times before with singles such as “We’re Gonna Start” and “Blonds Have More Fun” with their melodic, hard hitting electro house style that is both unique and creative, and accessible to all. They are getting support from more and more big name Djs such as Tiesto, Hardwell, EDX, Morgan Page and more. Dinka is one of the great female Djs, with a command of many styles of house and growing fan base, she is one you need to follow. Check out her 3 track EP released earlier this month.

Albums, House | EDX – On The Edge (Album Review)

Swiss Dj and producer Maurizio Colella aka EDX has finally released his much anticipated premier artist album “On The Edge”. This album is the culmination of the EDX’s career thus far, which began as a young Swiss Dj handing out mixtapes in the late 90s that would soon go global and help propel the now world famous Dj to widespread fame and success. With a famous brand “No Xcuses” and radio show to his name, EDX has toured the world playing clubs from Los Angeles to Soeul to Melbournne to Paris. He just finished his summer residency at the world’s number one club “Space” in Ibiza and is getting ready for his No Xcuses Tour, which will take him all over the world and send him tearing through the summer festival season with this album as his primary weapon. Possibly my favorite genre of music, progressive house literally takes over your body with melodic build ups and synths that get you lost in the track. EDX remixed one of my all time favorite songs (posted below) and now comes at us with another progressive house track that will have you leaning back and closing your eyes before you even realize what you’re doing.
