When I first heard the unfinished version of this remix a few months ago it was apparent it was going to be huge and now that we have the totally finished version it is obvious why Miike Snow chose this remix. Following in the footsteps on Thomas Gold, Dirty South and Sebastian Ingrosso and their catalog defining remixes, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman get the honor of being chosen in the Miike Snow tradition of one remix per track, which makes it even more special for the two Stockholm natives. Staying true to their big room progressive sound, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman give us another track that will stand tall among the many releases we see today. It will be released December 17th on Robotberget.

What was once a 5 song remix package has been cut down to 3 remixes for the young Stockholm native’s Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman’s latest single “Pieces Of Light“. They tab young guns SICK INDIVIDUALS, Denzal Park, & Henrix to add new life to this track with SICK INDIVIDUALS adding a grinding electro drop, Denzal Park pumping more energy into the progressive break and Henrix continuing his current trend of percussion heavy tracks. The remix package will be out December 17th on EMI.
DJ-Set | Weekend Mixes 11/8/12

This week we have an outrageous amount of mixes. There is music for days. Not really, more for hours, but you get the point. We start things off with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman’s weekly radio show and their upbeat selection and melodic mixing, which is an element that is missing from many podcasts. Next up our friends over at The Drop had Tritonal on for an interview and for guest mix duties in a trance heavy episode. Avicii just released the 8th episode of his Levels podcast, which featured the vocal version of “Nicktim”, which to be pretty honest is pretty awful and gave the radio premier of Henrik B’s upcoming track “Voices”, which in contrast is outstanding. Much like the label itself, Fool’s Gold Radio brings you an incredibly eclectic tracklist and with A-trak on the decks, the mixing is through the roof. The rest of the mixes come from Walden, Laidback Luke, and another from The Drop. Tracklist as always are after the jump.

Their 3rd single of the year, “Pieces Of Light” combines the superb production capabilities of young duo, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman with rising vocal asset, Jonny Rose. They return to the big room sound they championed with “Russia“, letting Jonny Rose’s vocals shine in the build with a melodic, anthemic synth drop, while adding electro stabs to give it more of an edgier sound. They hit the ground running in 2012 with their heavily supported single “Roll The Dice” and with this release they seem to be only hitting their stride as they prep the world for more releases.

This is quite a few days of remixes with R3hab, Jacob Plant & Michael Woods lending their services for Calvin Harris & Example’s “We’ll Be Coming Back” remix package, tomorrow’s “Spectrum” remix package and today’s remix package of EDX’s hit single off if his album “On The Edge” with rising stars Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman & Swiss Duo Leventina providing their talents for the package. Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman stray a bit from their uplifting progressive sound and create their heaviest remix to date with a thumping bass line and pulsing synth chords that still remain a bit progressive, but the growling undertones give the song an edgier sound. Leventina go for the anthem sound with a big room, hands in the air drop with the occasional signature Leventina electro stab to add texture to the melody. They use Nadia Ali’s vocals impeccably with slow, emotional, piano driven builds. Both remixes use the parts of the original in different fashions and create new and great sounding songs.

Swedish rising stars (there are so many right?) Dimitri Vangelis and Wyman are back with another remix after showing us the last time that they can make remixes with the best them. Their tracks have been consistently supported by the crème de la crème of Djs so you know they have what it takes. They have been building a reputation for euphoric, hands in air, progressive house tracks with incredibly melodic leads that stir the deepest part of the soul, and this remix uses that framework but is a part tougher and takes a bit more of a brusque approach to it. This is what they describe as their “hardest” remix yet, so hit play and check it out. Have to love the long preview, which is nice when some record labels and artists give 1:30 previews so we can’t really know what is happening in the song. Release of this remix soon.

Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman couldn’t wait any longer and have released their much anticipated single “Russia” a day early. As a follow up to the incredibly successful “Roll The Dice“, “Russia” has a festival size anthem sound to it. The title is fitting because of the rise of Russian house artists with the likes of Hard Rock Sofa, Arty, Matisse & Sadko, Archie, Swanky Tunes and more. The duo provides us with a stunning melody with churning electro undertones and rising synths that crescendos into a maddening break lead by the aforementioned melody, a prominent bass line and various intricate layers to create this well formed production from the fast rising Swedish duo.
