Before moving out to California three months ago, I didn’t know much about Desert Hearts. I would see the festival’s name pop up time after time in blogs and Facebook posts, and I became intrigued by the colorful photos and people that caught my attention. I remember sitting at home in the middle-of-nowhere, Pennsylvania, scrolling through photos of the festival, and fantasizing about what it would be like to be in this vibrant scene all dressed in silly clothes with happy-looking humans. Not long after my move to California, an opportunity arose for me to attend the festival; I couldn’t refuse it. The time had finally come for me to find out what Desert Hearts was all about.

Desert Hearts makes its anticipated return next weekend to the Los Coyotes Reservation in Southern California on April 1-4. Desert Hearts has continued to be a special event for attendees, and this year’s spring festival will be another chapter for the four-day camping event with a new pool of international talent. This year’s lineup includes the likes of Atish, Butch, Manik, DJ Harvey, Extrawelt, Heartthrob, Super Flu YokoO, and more with resident Desert Hearts DJs Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, Porkchop, and Deep Jesus. Attendees will be treated to 72 consistent hours of house and techno sounds on a single stage while surrounded by stunning décor, artists, performers, yoga, and workshops.

There’s no denying the talent that the youngest dirtybird, Justin Jay, possesses. As he’s wrapping up the last few weeks of his senior year in college, the LA-based house phenom is gearing up for the next chapter of his life, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. With school finished up, we’re going to be seeing a lot more out of the immensely talented producer, and he’s giving us a glimpse of what to expect in the future during his last semester at college.
Just a week before making his Coachella debut, Jay ventured down to the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation in San Diego for the Desert Hearts Spring Festival for a three hour headlining set, which he has made available as a free download.
