In a little Throwback Thursday edition of event reviews, we have Electric Adventure, the 2-day festival that took place at Six Flags, in New Jersey over the 3rd and 4th of August. It combined a bass and trap heavy lineup, with some of the premier roller coasters on the eastern seaboard, giving you an experience where your adrenaline was always pumping, unless you were waiting in line for rides. The lineup was well rounded with guys like Dillon Francis, Seven Lions, GTA, 12th Planet and Zeds Dead all performing over the 2 days. Events | Henrix @ Mixify Rise Festival 2/14/13

Mixify is hosting the largest online festival of its kind at the moment with big name Djs like Knife Party, Arty, Deniz Koyu, Tritonal, R3hab, Walden, Adrian Lux, Ken Loi and many more. It kicked off earlier today with Adrian Lux throwing down a superb set and others like Tritonal, Danny Avila and the Stafford Brothers following suit. As I am writing this, Ken Loi is just starting his set, so tune in for that. The festival will continue until the 14th at 9pm. We are sponsoring fast rising talent, Henrix’s set on the 14th from 7-8, so before you head out for a debaucherously romantic night on the town, tune in to Henrix’s 1 hour set filled with hard hitting percussive beats. Well connected aspiring Spanish DJ, Danny Avila has released the remix package for his debut single on Big Beat records with contributions from Mikael Weermets, dBerrie, Sick Individuals & Lucky Date. Each take very different approaches to their remix duty, each letting the vocals from the original shine and then remolding the melody as their own. Mikael Weermets takes the original melody and adds his own stuttered electro stabs for a tougher sound, while Sick Individuals distort the original melody and add their own grinding drop. NYC native dBerrie adds a quick pulsating electro synth line to replace the original melody and Lucky Date adds a grungy, bass heavy drop, making it possibly the most unique of the package.

The name Danny Avila seems to be everywhere these days. Playing gigs all over world, opening for some of the biggest names in the industry, his cover mount cd for DJ Mag, getting support from Tiesto, Pete Tong among others, the hype surrounding this kid is outrageous. With this, it is time for the 17 year old Spaniard, who with Julian Jordan and Martin Garrix could start a boy band DJ group, to deliver and “Breaking Your Fall” is an excellent way to start. Danny Avila skillfully assembles an energetic, uplifting melody with blissful chords, layering over it a soulful vocal topline, bringing together Danny Avila’s superb first effort on Big Beat Records.
