Mix, Progressive House | FNT presents #SomethingBIG #033 – Stafford Brothers & NERVO
Posted by Middy on September 16, 2013
The Stafford Brothers are currently on their Aussie Invasion tour across the US, accompanied on various stops by fellow Aussies, Hook N Sling and Feenixpawl. They have been invading America for a couple years now, as their now former-neighbors in LA would tell you, but this is more official. We had the chance to catch them Saturday at Finale and it is wild time. We brought you the 23rd episode of #SomethingBIG and now we followup 10 episodes later with the 33rd episode. This time around, they catch up with fellow Aussies and top birds Nervo, who go behind the scenes on a few of their productions. Tracklist after the jump.

Posted by Middy on September 11, 2013
With our Bloody Beetroots Giveaway still going strong, we decided with the Stafford Brothers, hey why not do another one. For everyone in NYC, we are giving away the chance for you and a friend to be VIP at Finale with the Stafford Brothers. The added bonus is that you get hang out and party with them as well. If there is one thing these two know how to do (besides the whole music, club owning and TV thing), it is partying. So you will want to enter this contest to see if you can hang with these two. Also Kirill Was Here is going to be there camera, champagne and all, so be prepared to show your tits (female preferred, but not exclusively). I would say grab tickets here, but Finale doesn’t sell tickets, so just enter the contest as your best chance at getting in. That or paying out the ass for a table or betting on getting past the doormen. Just enter this contest. 21+ only.
Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Rudimental Talk Music Videos, Future Expectations and More [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by Middy on September 11, 2013
Rudimental have taken the world by storm. Their single “Feel The Love” rose to the top of the charts in the UK and became a worldwide phenomenon. They have not stopped there with a host of other chart topping singles like “Not Giving In” and “Waiting All Night”. Their live show is about as energetic and “live” as there is in dance music, bringing what they call “a carnival atmosphere” to every festival and city they visit. The foursome have come a long way with their album “Home”, showing their strong UK dance influences, while keeping it soulful and unique on every track.
We had the chance to chat with them after their show with Emili Sandé two weeks ago in Central Park and talk about their incredible music videos, trying to build on their success and what they have coming up, including tracks with The Game and Ed Shereen. Click past the jump for the full interview, but before you do, watch their video for “Right Here”, it is epic. You can grab their now Platinum selling album “Home” on iTunes here. Big congrats to the guys for that!
Electro | AObeats & Manilla Killa – Aurorealis (EP)
Posted by admin on August 28, 2013
I was previously unfamiliar with AObeats and Manilla Killa, two electro artists with a very distinct sound to their music. The producers teamed up to create a mini-EP, consisting of two hard hitting tracks to remember. Now, some might criticize the length of this project, however, I’m glad they kept it short. It allows me to dive in more deeply to each song, along with the fact that I’m sure I’ll be racking up the play count.
The first track “Perfect Strangers” is straight out of an 80’s dance club with an infectious synth and drums that are made for grooving. “Limbo” on the other-hand was the polar opposite of what I expected. A deep-rooted and somber styling, “Limbo” features the vocals of jdv plus and has a drum line reminiscent to that of a trap production. These two songs come together for a full seven minutes of glory, surely worth the listen.
All in all this EP is one I recommend taking a chance on, and I can only hope to see more from this duo in the future!
Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | BT Talks Ghost Producing, ASAW, Sharks & More (FNT Exclusive)
Posted by Middy on August 27, 2013
BT has become a standard bearer for innovation and excellence in dance music. He is noted as a creative producer of many different styles and sounds, as well as an acclaimed film scorer and programmer: the mind behind the now necessary stutter edit. His 9th artist album “A Song Across Wires” instantly shot up to number one on the iTunes dance charts and has produced such singles like “Must Be The Love”, “Skylarking”, and “Tomahawk”. We had the chance to chat with him last week before his show at Marquee, and of all the people I have had the chance to interview like Hardwell, Arty, Thomas Gold and Andrew Bayer, BT was probably my favorite guy to talk to.
Later that night we got to catch his set at Marquee that featured a heavy dose of ASAW and more danceable tracks from the lengthy BT discography. There were plenty of avid BT fans in attendance, so this was a party he knew how to play, even at a bottle service club like Marquee. Click past the jump to read our discussion on ghost producing, which he had some very interesting things to say about, the album, his passion for sharks and more.
Hip-Hop | Asher Roth – Here To Stay feat. CJ Trillo [Pearly Gates Remix] [Prod. By Jim I.E]
Posted by LoffyG on August 9, 2013
As Asher Roth was preparing to release his recent Greenhouse Effect Vol. 2 mixtape, he dropped an
acapella version of “Pearly Gates” for fans to put to their own production in a chance to win a pro Soundcloud account. Producer Jim I.E and his right hand man and MC, Cj Trillo, went to work on it. Jim created a completely new sound for the song and fit Asher’s vocals into it as if they were there to begin with. To top it off CJ Trillo adds a verse to the song. Their hard work was rewarded as they won the contest. This one is definitely worth a listen.
Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Adrian Lux Interview [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by Middy on July 30, 2013
Prinz Adrian Johannes Hynne aka Adrian Lux has had a long, winding road to where he is now, rising to his well-respected status in dance music. First getting into music around the age of 16, he started as a hip hop DJ before moving into the more underground realms of dance music that were popular at the time in his native Stockholm. He eventually found his sound, becoming heavily influenced by indie pop and a wide range electronic artists in Sweden from Andrew Beyer, to Axwell, to Eric Prydz.
We had the chance to talk about his tour and his show last Saturday, his early DJ life, moving to America and what he is in store for the future. Having just released his debut album last spring, and another on the way soon, it will be very exciting to see everything he has in store for us.
