Uk producer Jacob Plant brings his brand of heavy electro & dubstep to Calvin Harris led Fly Eye Records. Departing from the last release on Fly Eye from Thomas Gold “Miao“, “Shakedown” serves as an outstanding jump off track to 2013 for both the label and the artist. With quick progressing builds, gritty drops and well placed electro growls, this phenomenal, high powered track is sure to be a quick burst of energy in any set it is played in.

It is time for the weekend and since I missed last week, there is going to be A LOT of mixes in this post. I have about 24 hours of music and all of it good. We start things off with Hardwell’s yearmix that goes through his accomplished discography from this year and a selection of tracks from his label, Revealed Recordings. Next up is from yearmix from Nicky Romero that includes his numerous releases from this year and the unreleased “Symphonica”. Hook N Sling provides us with his take on 2012 in a high energy, bootleg heavy mix. Young Polish Dj Tom Swoon goes the extra mile and gives us 61 tracks in 2 hours for his year end mix, traversing genres from electro to trance to progressive.
After the jump we have the two latest episodes of The Drop that include exclusives from both guest mixers, Qulinez & Synchronice. Next week they are celebrating their 50 episode with mixes from Djs like Leon Bolier, Lazy Rich & Maor Levi all week so head to their Facebook page for full details. It is that time of the year, when the calendar fast approaches a new year and DJs give us reflective mixes on the music that they felt were the biggest tracks of the year. It is only December 28th, so the pickings are somewhat slim on these sets, but I couldn’t leave you guys hanging on this weekend, so here are the sets out now. We start things off with the 2012 retrospective episode of The Drop that mixes in 56 songs in 2 hours including their top 5 of the year (spoiler alert we agree with 2 of the songs). Next up are not one but TWO year end mixes from Laidback Luke, one being his own famous year end mix with its dizzying quick transitions averaging packing 70 songs into 70 minutes and then his mix for his imprint Mixmash records that only has a pedestrian 44 tracks in 70 minutes. Next up is Moiez and his year end mix that takes us through some of the biggest tracks of the year ranging from W&W’s “Lift Off” to DubVision’s remix of Committed to Sparkle Motion”. After the jump we have mixes from First State that mixes in 76 songs in 2 hours, the December mix from Dannic that includes a whole host of unreleased and exclusive tracks, a half hour mix from Jakob Liedholm that includes his now IDed track with Henrix “Close Your Eyes” that has been haunting me for the past several months and the 4th edition of Dzeko & Torres Rave’N podcast with some exclusive bootlegs and edits.

Thomas Gold finishes off a year that has seen his his rise among the ranks at Axtone, mixing its 2012 compilation, his highly successful essential mix debut, a flurry of remixes and singles, and now his debut on Calvin Harris’ imprint, Fly Eye Records, “MIAO”. Thomas Gold gets right into the club ready drop of pulsing pitched chords and quick alternating snare and evolves the track with a slow melodic interlude that beckons in that same pulsing drop from before. He is about to embark on his winter North American tour, so be sure to check him out at a city near you.
