Progressive House | The Fray – How To Save A Life (Kian Sang Bootleg)
Posted by Mel on August 6, 2013
Let’s just say, for instance, you are a 15 year old girl. Naturally, there will be a few things you enjoy very much: The Biebs, obviously, wearing leggings even though you clearly don’t yet have the body for it (soon though, soon), thinking you have a shot with older guys and asking them to drive you places and, most importantly, you are a fan of the long dismantled SHM (though you can’t name any of the individual members), Zedd (yet you suspiciously only know one song of his), and Avicii. Kian Sang, not a name a 15 year old girl would know but he was actually one of the official collaborators in Avicii’s masterpiece “X You”. His melody was chosen and can be seen at the 1:40 mark of the video. He has also remixed The Fray’s “How To Save A Life” magnificently. I was just 11 when the original came out and therefore only vaguely remember it. Though I feel as though if you do remember it, even if you didn’t enjoy it, that you will enjoy this version. This remix has made it into my ultra exclusive iTunes library so that should tell you how good this is.

Electro-House, House | The Robot Dentist ft Aaron Knute – Here Forever
Posted by VMan on July 19, 2013
A few weeks back I was put onto The Robot Dentist, the winner of The Discovery Project EDC New York, by his manager Graham. He recently sent over this track that we shouldn’t sleep on. I’ve personally had this track on repeat all morning. “Here Forever” is anthemic, melodious, and has all the right drops to get everyone dancing and raging. Aaron Knute’s folksy vocals also elevate this track to a whole other level, almost reminding me of Avicii’s latest release “Wake Me Up.” This track is a must listen and a must download!

House | Avicii ft Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up
Posted by Middy on June 25, 2013
Rejoice, Avicii is making it cool for you to wear cowboy boots and your neon YOLO hat in the same outfit to your favorite mediocre local festival! First premiered on the Mainstage during his unpredictable set at Ultra Music Festival, Avicii‘s lead single “Wake Me Up” from his upcoming album “TRUE“, has finally hit stores worldwide. It has been released in Europe for a week now, but as of today it is available worldwide on Spotify and iTunes. It is exciting to this change in direction from Avicii and the possibilities of what he can bring in the future since he has inspired so many copycats in the past few years. Whether or not his fans will be supportive of his new sound 100% remains to be seen, but you can expect September 17th to be a landmark day for one of the titans in dance music.
Albums | Avicii to Release Debut Album TRUE September 17th
Posted by Middy on June 21, 2013
You thought it might never happen, but barring no setbacks or delays, Avicii’s debut album #TRUE will be released on September 17th through PRMD Music and Island Records. The Swedish megastar shocked the world at Ultra Music Festival this past spring when he played many of the selections on the album live that had a very different direction than what people were used to hearing from Avicii. But it appears he is tired of just being associated with “Levels” and wants to go in a different direction and show his diversity as an artist.
Disruption is good when a scene is half stuck
His new single “Wake Me Up” with Aloe Blacc has hit stores in Europe and will go on sale and the radio in the States June 25th. I am really looking forward to hearing the finished product and the new direction he is taking with his sound with the whole host of collaborators he has on the album. The most interesting thing may be the fan reaction, which thus far has been very luke warm, but I think many will come around September 17th. The one downside is that the hashtag in the album name is a tad cheesy.
Update: There will be no hashtag in the name album title. Good call Avicii.

Progressive House | Avicii – Let Me Show You Love (Don’t Give Up On Us) (Tom Swoon Edit)
Posted by Middy on June 9, 2013
You know the original track (still unreleased) from Avicii’s sets and may have a live rip sitting in your iTunes somewhere, but here we have an outstanding edit from Tom Swoon to give it a fresh sound and make it playable on large systems. Tom Swoon has a history with Avicii — whereas he has opened for him on several occasions and his tracks have been hammered out by Avicii for some time now. Tom Swoon does not mess with the magic of the original melody, simply adding his own big room flavor with driving synths layers over Avicii’s work. Do not pass up on this freebee from Tom Swoon as you head into the work week.

Progressive House | Henrik B, Niklas Gustavsson, Peter Johansson – Echoes
Posted by Middy on May 21, 2013
Henrik B has the release rate of the glacial Swedish weather he inhabits. However, with that slow pace of releases, he makes each one count, a fact that forces you to cherish each and every track from the underrated Swede. He also happens to be one of the funniest DJs on Facebook / Twitter, so he makes up for the lack of releases with his quality posts. The witty, social media savvy producer tabs fellow Swedish producer Niklas Gustavsson and vocalist / dancer Peter Johansson to craft this melodically rich track that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish with fast paced synth chords, euphoric key play and an ideal vocal sample from The Police that brings the whole track together.
Henrik B has a whole host of tracks in the works, including several more with Niklas Gustavsson, something we cannot wait to hear, especially after what “Echoes” brings to the table. He also looks for redemption after missing out on the opportunity to collaborate with Avicii on what became “Levels“, as they are in the early stages of another track that will hopefully be out this decade.
