Albums, Review, Trance | Dash Berlin – #musicislife
Posted by Mach on April 27, 2012
#musicislife, what I hope to be one of the most used hash-tags today. At the moment I am writing this it is Thursday still and I am only 3 tracks in and my mind is completely blown. Dash Berlin is a legend when it comes to vocal Progressive Trance. Armada music must be celebrating this albums success already and it’s not even released yet.
Now this where I have finished listening to this album. I am completely speechless, this was one of the most incredible albums I have listened to in a long time. It is insulting for me to have any favorites from this, each track is amazing on its own. If I was held at gun point my top 5 would be ‘Better Half Of Me,’ ‘Silence In Your Heart,’ ‘Go It Alone,’ ‘Like Plates Spinning,’ and ‘Fool For Life.’ The 5 tracks cut me deep, the emotions of them are almost overwhelming which is why I chose them. To give a run down on all the different vocalists featured on this album would take ages. With that said though, it is incredible how many different great female and male vocalists were featured on this. Including the amount of artists that Dash collaborated with. From now on when people ask me for good Trance, I will just tell them to listen to this entire album.

Compilation, Progressive House | Tiesto – Club Life – Volume Two Miami
Posted by Middy on April 27, 2012
Tiesto has released his massive Club Life compilation as an ode to one of the EDM capitals of the US, Miami. His first Club Life was dedicated to Las Vegas, where he helped transform the music scene dominated by a Hip Hop to one of the EDM capitals of the world possibly second only to Ibiza. The overall album shows the current direction of Tiesto’s music himself and the direction of EDM with all progressive and electro house tracks making the cut on this incredible compilation. Unlike previous compilations that we have been seeing recently that are simply a whole bunch of other people’s songs, Tiesto either made or is part of 8 of 15 of the tracks. While only 6 of the tracks are brand new, in this day and age where the constant need for new songs is there and not all the songs are Tiesto’s, that is quite a good number.
The album starts off with Tiesto’s piano driven progressive track “Chasing Summers” that really has not gotten enough credit for its production work especially with the foreboding beginning, creating a massive sense of anticipation. The album continues with his “Space Junk”esque collaboration with Wolfgang Gartner “We Own The Night” and then moves through his big mainstream remixes of Gotye – “Somebody I Used To Know” and Coldplay “Paradise” that have gotten some serious tour play. The next two tracks is where the album is truly at its best with Sultan + Ned Shepard feat. Quilla – Walls and The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Tiësto & Hardwell Remix). “Walls” is one of those vocal progressive house anthems you will hear this summer without really knowing who made it, but make sure to get to know this track, the vocals from Quilla and especially the euphoric melody make this a must have. Hardwell & Tiesto teaming on a track worked exceptionally well on “Zero 76″ and it has worked at the same level on “Young Blood” with a sublime melody and great use of the indie vocals from The Naked & Famous. Read more and preview more tracks after jump. I recommend the unmixed version to get the whole track and it comes with the continuous mix that you would be buying anyway with the mixed CD.

Oh shitdamn. Happy Friday. Are you ready for this? I’m not sure that you are. Bristol duo Dodge & Fuski (and the good folks at UKF) bring us an insanely heavy remix of SKisM’s “Rave Review” that’s pretty much built to take your Friday evening to the next level. This remix officially drops on July 5th so get it early and get it free.
House, Pop | Calvin Harris Feat. Ne-Yo – Lets Go (Incl. Calvin Harris Remix)
Posted by Middy on April 27, 2012
Calvin Harris is rising to the level of global superstar as a Dj / producer / writer / singer, and is incredibly talented at all of these. This whole package has not available until a day or two ago and for some reason this track has not really caught on for commercial success. Just give it some time. The original / radio mix is his next “We Found Love” with simple verses and a catchy hook and an upbeat, poppy instrumental. The Calvin Harris remix is for the people who want more Calvin Harris and less Ne-Yo as Calvin Harris elongates the song and adds more of an EDM flare to it.

Progressive House | Jus Jack & Oza, Paki & Jaro, Dino Roc & Chris Jones, Alate, Jakob Liedholm
Posted by W8 on April 27, 2012
Friday is now upon us and with that said comes an abundance of progressive house refreshments. Cheery sounds of happiness that shall bring your heart rate to unforetold levels of exctasy this weekend, and later inspire you to regain the little memory you still have left. I would also like to mention that additional time went into this post to make sure all the tracks were free of charge, not something you see everyday in this shark infested ocean of money hungry producers. First on the list is Jus Jack and Oza’s remix of Without You, definitely the standout record of the bunch, try it and continue after the jump.

Cam Meekins latest release “Blazed and Confused 2″ is a 10 track mixtape, previewing the dankness that is about to be his upcoming free album being released on May 21st. In usual Cam style, he straight up murders “Represent”, “Shiraz” and “Organic Food”, with “Phone Tap” and “Cas Drawl” being on the chiller side. Download the whole mixtape below and check out Cam’s facebook here. Shoutout to Oliver on the find.

Hip-Hop | Nas – Daughters
Posted by J_Salzer on April 26, 2012
It’s been a minute since we had some Nas that really went back to his old days. But this is pretty dang close. Nas tells us a story catering to all of the fathers with daughters out there. And although I’m sure not many of you have daughters, you can still empathize and enjoy Nas’ flow and lyricism. Check out the lyrics on Rap Genius below along with verified explanations from Nas himself. And although I can not even begin to comprehend the feeling of being responsible for another human being, I hope you guys can enjoy this song as much as me. Nasir guides us on a tale that is both thought AND emotion envoking, and even though I don’t have kids of my own, I can only hope to one day be able to deal with the highs and lows of raising a baby girl. Monologue over.
