Albums | Perfect Havoc Welcomes Back Parx & Perfect Havoc Management Artist Aya Anne For “Touch”

Posted by on November 15, 2022

Chart-topping indie label, Perfect Havoc is thrilled to have label alumni and house music producer, Parx and PH management artist and breaking vocalist, Aya Anne come together on the brand new single ‘Touch’. A pop-tinged late-night club track, ‘Touch’ has Parx’s signature piano and deep kick production that makes for a massive sonic exhibition, especially when highlighted with the chocolate-like vocals from Aya Anne.

2017 was the year Alex Cramp aka Parx burst on to the scene with the release of Waiting on You on The Magician’s Potion imprint which was also debuted by Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1. The follow up, Sunrise, was a collaboration with Kattison and has since reached over 4.1 million streams on Spotify alone. Parx had arrived.

Over the next few years, Parx went on to release a slew of heavily supported singles. These included Fantasy on TMTR, featuring the vocal talents of close friend and co-conspirator Adam Engle from Blonde. Then Bang, a collaboration with TCTS on Ministry of Sound which gained radio support from Danny Howard and Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1.

Parx joined the Perfect Havoc family in 2019 with his cover of the well-known CeCe Peniston classic Finally. This was also a hit, generating over 2 million streams on Spotify and saw support from Charlie Hedges on BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems along with daytime playlist support on KISS FM and KISS Dance. Then to original material, the emotive Oh My showcased a more sensitive side to his sound, showing just how versatile this young artist is.

The multi-million streaming tracks have continued to evolve from the Parx studio with the Parlophone/FFRR released Feel Right Now (feat. Nono), Self Certified by Mistajam on BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems and racked up 12 million streams.

Remix wise, Parx is in demand, with his remixes for Alan Walker, Mason and Tobtok & Oliver Nelson amongst others building him up to be one of the go-to remixers of the UK House Scene.

An extraordinarily varied singer, Aya Anne is providing herself an in-demand singer- songwriter, working with such talented producers as Pink Panda, Simon Field, James Hurr, Kokiri and more. As glamorous as she is hardworking, Aya has achieved more than 2 million streams on her tracks and has more up her sleeve with new solo releases and revealing her skills as a talented DJ. Watch his space.

Together on ‘Touch’, Parx and Aya Anne deliver a commercially tinged dancefloor-ready track. The off-key piano stabs give the track a pounding energy juxtaposed with an ethereal breakdown as Aya’s soothing lyrics about craving human connection are entwined, drawing the listener in even further.

“Touch” is another solid release for Perfect Havoc. Shortlisted for Best Independent Record Label at the 2022 Music Week Awards, Perfect Havoc’s niche of commercial dance with a smattering of the more club-focused sounds has given rise to six UK Top 20 singles including the No.1 single ‘Head & Heart’ by Joel Corry & MNEK. Now having generated over 5 billion streams, Perfect Havoc is one of the most consistently successful indies in recent years. Keep an ear out for more releases for the rest of 2022 with cuts from Freejak, PS1, Movada and more.

Albums | NxFxce Shares New Single “bff”

Posted by on November 11, 2022

Mysterious US artist NxFxce shares his vision unlike any other emerging name, confidently tapping into experimental rap, pop and other genres too. The end result is an atmospheric soundscape packed with relatable lyrics and distinct melodic vocals as he details his journey as an artist and paints a vision for his listeners through candid storytelling, which delves into topics such as feelings of insecurity and regret. Such openness is captured on his new single, “bff”.

“bff” hears the artist talk about not realising what someone meant until they’re gone. With its infectious hook and NxFxce’s hypnotic vocals fused with a captivating retro production, it makes a strong impression when listening. The track is only NxFxce’s fourth release since his debut earlier this year, but it’s already very apparent what a huge talent he is, with all four singles indicating this is an artist with a bright future who will be one to watch over the next year.

Speaking further on the new release, NxFxce says, “‘bff’ to me is about having someone in your life and realising what they meant to you once they left, whether it be a relationship or a friendship. I actually recently went through a breakup, and I had the beat for some months but couldn’t tap into that emotion, so a week or two after the breakup I took what I was feeling and expressed it.”

Albums | Arliston Share New EP ‘Even In The Shade’

Posted by on November 8, 2022

UK indie duo Arliston, consisting of Jack Ratcliffe (vocals/guitar/keyboards) and George Hasbury (guitar/keyboards), have returned with their stunning new EP, Even In The Shade. The project arrives following a busy year that has seen the London-based duo already release a successful EP, The Ground Might Disappear, back in January. And in the lead-up to Even In The Shade, they’ve recently shared singles “Mothering” and “Hold My Wine”, both of which received critical acclaim.

Even In The Shade is five tracks of devastatingly beautiful music ranging from the ‘80s-infused and playful “Hold My Wine” to the subtle and stripped-back “Tombstone Teeth”. “Sydenham Place”, meanwhile, feels like an instant indie classic, with Jack’s voice sounding as good as ever, masterfully flipping between airy falsetto and rich baritone all while dancing between George’s gorgeous piano. It’s classic songwriting through the Arliston lens. Written and produced by Arliston and mixed/mastered by Brett Shaw (Florence + The Machine, Foals), there’s an undeniable quality to this collection of songs that illustrates the Arliston sound growing in stature and evolving in new and unexpected ways.

Speaking further on the EP, George Hasbury explains: “We had just lost our drummer, amicably, so we were a little adrift as we started making this EP. The first song we wrote was ‘Mothering’, which was sort of inherently smaller without a drummer’s presence. But it still felt good and like Arliston, and after that the rest of the songs quickly emerged.”

Jack Ratcliffe adds: “I think we feel like we’re only just finding our feet with the project and where we want it to go, and that’s a really exciting feeling! We’re starting to get the feedback and the response that we’d hoped for, so we’re more energised than ever.”

Arliston’s consistency and knack for rich melodies and contemplative atmospherics is paying off – the new EP is the sound of a band exceeding their potential and not afraid to reach further. With over a million Spotify streams to their name already and people earmarking them as future festival favourites, Even In The Shade is sure to continue their impressive rise and see them break new ground.

Albums | 1tbsp Drops “2007”

Posted by on November 8, 2022

1tbsp is an indie-house project from Australian artist Maxwell Byrne (aka Golden Vessel) which has a sound that can be likened to a mix between Fred Again, Mall Graband Four Tet. His new track “2007” is off of an upcoming project, due out next month. Listen to “2007” by 1tbsp above now and read a quote on the release after the jump!

This idea started from a day of recording with David Versace (of First Beige), one of the first things he played was this synth line that I knew I wanted to try re-work it and speed up. After almost figuring the song out, George Nicholas (of Seekae) helped with the last few finishing touches. 2007 feelsreally influenced by a monthly club night I was throwing in Brisbane last year called “sumoclic nights” (which both David & I DJ’d). My dance music taste and love for DJing really grew and this track feels like it’s a result of that time.” –1tbsp
