Mix, Trance | Markus Schulz 2-Hour Sunrise Set
Posted by Middy on July 23, 2013
It is currently 3am here on the east coast. That means the sun’s rays will be peaking up over the horizon in just under 2 hours. What a better way to get ready for the imminent arrival of the sun then a set specifically curated for the occasion by none other then Markus Schulz. He has his own stage at Tomorrowland where he will be playing for 12 hours, so just assume there are few guys as crazy / hyper boss as him. Sit back and listen to this set and let the soothing melodies and rhythms take you away. Tracklist after the jump.

Dash Berlin have been a master of vocal trance for several years now, and with this effort the trio prove that once more. Tabbing Russian trance producer, Alexander Popov, Dash Berlin’s two producers give us the big, uplifting melodies you would expect from them, with the genre blending sound known from Alexander Popov, all accentuated by a soaring top line from Mendelsohn. This is to be included in the upcoming deluxe edition of #musicislife, which has another unreleased track and some new remixes from Michael Brun and Andrew Rayel, among others.

Trance | Keyworth – Raze
Posted by Middy on July 18, 2013
Why not a little trance on this Thursday. This track may not be your traditional 138 bpm uplifter, but it has all the makings of modern trance tune. American, Casey Keyworth has had an evolving career, changing his name from Breakfast to Keyworth and switching labels several times before settling on his current arrangement of releasing music through his own website. He gives out plenty of free music and is a very underrated mid-tempo trance producer. “Raze” has been heavily supported by Above & Beyond in their “Group Therapy” radio show and it is easy to understand why with its crisp, rolling bass line, sturdy risers and powerful synth chords. Grab this eclectic track as free download on his website and stream below.

Trance | Audien – Iris
Posted by Middy on July 3, 2013
It has been a big week for Audien. First he released his followup to “Wayfarer”, that saw support from artists all across the dance music spectrum like Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate, Armin van Buuren, Knife Party & Madeon, and now today added to the already star-studded Electric Zoo lineup. “Iris” carries that Audien sound with sweeping synth chords, atmospheric pads, delicate key play and a subtle, grinding low-end. Expect to hear this often on trance stages and throughout festivals during the summer as it creeps into artists sets and up the charts.
Trance | Paul Oakenfold – Turn It On

This track is not for the faint of heart. Dark and intense, with a relentless acid low end and a fast-paced Goa vibe, “Turn It On” somehow manages to be both futuristic and retro. Not shocking, given that Paul Oakenfold is an undisputed master of the trade, but it’s refreshing to get a track like this in the midst of all the bland, formulaic electro house that is being passed off as trance these days.

Trance | ilan Bluestone & Jerome Isma-Ae – Under My Skin
Posted by Middy on June 24, 2013
As Anjunabeats moves on from its well-documented landmark 10th compilation released in March, first with Norin & Rad‘s “Bird Is The Word“ last week, they look to another label favorite in ilan Bluestone, who teams up with Jerome Isma-Ae to give us the hauntingly beautiful “Under My Skin“. First capturing the imagination of trance fans in Miami as the most saught after ID in Above & Beyond‘s UMF set, “Under My Skin” combines soothing, emotive strings and piano, with a pulsing, yet melodic synth driven drop, that makes this one of the standout releases on Above & Beyond’s label thus far this year. ilan Bluestone has been a steady riser on scene in the past year or two with a bevy or remixes and originals on Anjunabeats and Armada, including his heavily supported remix for BT‘s “Skylarking“, while Jerome Isma-Ae has long cemented himself as one of the stable forces in trance and progressive. This is a dynamite release from Anjunabeats so do not skip this one.
