Despite their million+ fans, I was previously unaware of Barcelona. The group has chocked their SoundCloud full of remixes, and one in particular that really made a lasting impression was MSG’s “Background” reworking. The song takes ambient elements from Barcelona’s catchy vocals and mixes them with the deep house sounds that are making their rounds across the music world. The result is pure bliss for an entire four minutes and thirty eight seconds.
Both MSG and Barcelona hail from the Northwest state of Washington, a hub for all things culture and music. The local influences allowed for this track to click on multiple levels, making it enjoyable for indie and electronic fans alike.

High Klassified, the FOOLSGOLD producer from Montreal, Canada is about to turn 21 later this month. Earlier today, perhaps of in celebration of this milestone of adulthood, he took to his Soundcloud to bless our ears with a new cut called ‘Broken Elbows’. The track leads with an out-of-character progressive sounding synth, but is quickly drowned out by his usual saturated key tones and pitch changing high hats. This snappy yet soulful track is a record that is best served (as the name suggests) slightly stoned.

Icona Pop singles have been getting some huge remixes lately. The “All Night” remix package tabbed the likes of Kyrder, Cash Cash & CID for remixes, but Atlantic Records goes even bigger on this batch of remixes for “Just Another Night”. The Swedish recently risen stars grab a whole host of big names from across the dance music spectrum to take full advantage of their very remixable vocals.
Kicking things off comes Dubvision who add their soaring progressive sound, while Marcus Schossow mold it into a playful housey tune. For a remix package this size, it would not be complete without a few trap heaters and Faustix & Imanos & Alex Young provide those.

FNT welcome new comer Jess Marquis with his latest remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Burn,” an uplifting club progressive house take on the UK vocalist’s tune. I first heard this track when Jess played it at his residency for Brite Nites at Webster Hall a few weeks back, and my first comment to him after his set was: “I need that remix!” I’m all about uplifting feel good tracks with bright piano chords, and a ton of soul, and let’s just say he turned this mainstream drum n bass record into an anthem! The 19 year old New York producer that goes by the name of Jimmy Q remixed Marvin Gaye’ sensual “Let’s Get It On” by chopping it up, layering it with a trap beat, and including a subtle sample of Nas’ “Nas Is Like” all for your listening pleasure. If you’re into classics being revisited to be more in tune with the sound of the times, this one’s all you! I honestly couldn’t even tag a genre for this remix, it’s a mix between tech-house, trap and old school hip hop instrumentals. Either way, this is a must listen and a must download!
