Hip-Hop, Rap | GoldLink – Electronic Relaxation (prod. Ta-Ku)
Posted by admin on August 8, 2013
Some of you may already be familiar with Virginia rapper, GoldLink, because of his previous track “They Don’t Like Me”, which was featured on FNT a few weeks back. However, if you are not yet “hip” to the spitter, have no fear. I couldn’t imagine a better introduction to GoldLink’s music than the versatile track “Electronic Relaxtion”.
The instrumental was constructed by chillwave producer, Ta-Ku, and despite the complexity of the beat, GoldLink manages to control his delivery and play off the intricacy to make an astounding sound. Although he’s still finding his stride within his music, the amount of raw talent and promise that spews out of every bar shows just how bright of a future that GoldLink has ahead of him.

Hip-Hop, Rap | ScHoolBoy Q – Collard Greens (ft. Kendrick Lamar) [Video]
Posted by admin on August 7, 2013
I say with ease that ScHoolBoy Q is one of my favorite “new school” rappers, that is, if he’s even considered new school. Already with a full-length album under his belt the Compton native is one of the most watched artists of 2013. His sophomore LP Oxymoron will feature “Collard Greens” and is already one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Calling in TDE associate, Kendrick Lamar, to drop a verse and Gwen Bunn/THC for the instrumental, Q pulled out all the stops. “Collard Greens” is definitely a “check me out now, h8rz” kind-of song and K.Dot along with ScHoolBoy both make sure to strut their stuff.
The video is eventful to say the least, and even features a few cameos from Macklemore. Check it out, enjoy, and stay on high-alert for Oxymoron coming soon.
Hip-Hop, Rap | Drop City Yacht Club – Hey You
Posted by admin on August 4, 2013
Best known for their radio single, “Crickets” featuring Jeremih, Drop City Yacht Club has returned to show us they aren’t just your average hiphop group. Spinning off the classic Nas track, “I Can”, DCYC reconstructs his hook from: “I know I can, be what I want to be” to “I know I am, fresh as I wanna be”. The light, yet swagger-filled hook, in addition to three verses from Kristo, A.Wolf and THX make for a fun song to jam out to on any occasion.
Drop City is heading out on tour with rap legends, The Goodie Mob this fall so be sure to check out their dates and stop in for a show if you’re in the area. Enjoy and watch Drop City Yacht Club continue to build up buzz as they progress in their music.
Hip-Hop, Rap | Vic Mensa – Time Is Money (ft. Rockie Fresh & Beldina)
Posted by admin on August 1, 2013
Since Chicago rock/rap band, Kids These Days, disbanded a few months back, rapper Vic Mensa has been busy working and building up as a solo rap act. After the take off of childhood friend, Chance the Rapper’s, music it seems only right that Vic is the next to blow from Chicago.
“Time Is Money” is the newest blessing off of INNANETAPE, Vic’s forthcoming mixtape. The song features a verse from fellow Chi-town rapper, Rockie Fresh, as well as some killer production credits from Boi 1da & The Maven Boys. With two other singles already out, the project is shaping up to be a big one from the young emcee. Although one chapter of his music career has closed, a brand new chapter was opened and it seems that plenty of old and new fans have quickly flocked to his relatable lyricism and infectious sound.
Catch all of Mensa’s other music on his Soundcloud and come back -hopefully- soon for INNANETAPE. Savemoney.
Hip-Hop, Rap | Chance The Rapper – Everybody’s Somebody’s Everything (Video)
Posted by admin on July 30, 2013
What can be said about a man who has already had so much said about him? Chance the Rapper has the whole world watching his every move, judging the music, the videos, and him as a person. However, through all of this he’s managed to keep a level head, even if that is partially accredited to the drugs he takes.
“Everybody’s Somebody’s Everything” was surely a standout track on Acid Rap, with Chance singing/rapping in a brash manor, yet with a positive sentiment. And, after having his army of loyal fans get the title to trend worldwide, he unleashed the Austin Vesely produced video to accompany. The video doesn’t disappoint, and although the song is lacking the third verse from Saba which was originally on the tape, the added piano melody tacked on to the end is a good substitution.
Enjoy the video, and check out the ever-so-promoted ChanceRaps.com for everything you’ll need to know about young Chancellor.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Devin Miles – Sundress
Posted by admin on July 25, 2013

I think most guys can agree that there isn’t much better than a hot summer’s day with plenty of beautiful women in sundresses. Devin Miles seems to share that sentiment and has released a song paying homage to the spectacle of the sundress. The sunny months may seem like they’re running short, but a song like this will make you think they lasts for eternity. Ricquo Jones plays us the soft and sweet sounds of summer while Devin’s vocals compliment so perfectly.
Don’t think too much about going back to school, having to go work, or anything really. Just sit back, grab a lemonade and let the song take you away.
