Drum & Bass | DnB Fridays
Posted by Sev on August 17, 2012
As if the original wasn’t great enough, this DnB remix by Mattix and Futile takes this track to the next level. Keeping things simple, but not boring, these guys definitely filled in all the gaps for me that were left in this track and completed the EP.
Big ups to W8 for finding this awesome DnB tune. He nailed it with this uplifting original tune from Neutralize featuring vocals from Emily Underhill.
Another uplifting tune steering away from the heavy Dnb, but not too liquid either. This awesome futuristic sounding drum and bass never gets old and always brings me to a state of euphoria.
This one changes the mood a little to a more jungle styled dnb. This reminds me of some of the older dnb that used to be produced a few years back. Nothing too fancy, but fast paced enough to get the crowd going.
Last but not list I recommend everyone pre-order this awesome dnb compilation releasing from one of Mach and I’s favorite labels, InfraRed Music. Veteran artist Wickaman has been tearing apart the dnb scene through this label lately and all of his tracks are absolutely crazy.
Electro, Electro-House | La’Reda — Solara EP [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by Sev on August 16, 2012
La’Reda is duo that I have been following for a few months now and their work and progression over the months is what led me to want to release this amazing EP by them. I haven’t been hearing too much Electro-House that has appealed to me in the past few months except for the crazy tracks these guys have been creating. They use some distorted, bass-bumping synths that always keep their work lively and exciting.
The first track on the EP, The Aquarian has a stunning melody accompanied with some uplifting chords and trance pads during the intro. Gradually advancing it’s way slowly to the unique Electro overdriven drop. Their next track entitled Solara has to be one of my favorite works from them. The uplifting tempo and feeling through the track just makes for a great live track. The vocals alongside the melody in this track also make the track that much better. The last track, One Wild Ride, is more of a darker, bouncy sounding track unlink anything I have heard in Electro-House. At parts the melody gives off a positive, graceful vibe, but the drop just makes you feel as though you are in a deep dark rave with no choice but to dance. As a special gift the boys decided to give us a track that was released on iTunes today as a free download for all the FNT fans exclusively. All the tracks can be found for DL through their Facebook or just click the Soundclouds download link to get them all.
Dubstep | Excision, Downlink – Crowd Control (Delta Heavy Remix)
Posted by Sev on August 14, 2012
The highly anticipated Excision and Downlink “X-Rated Remix Album” finally has a release date set for September 3rd featuring some of the biggest names in EDM on this list such as Dirtyphonics, Elite Force, Eptic, Lucky Date, Far Too Loud, Loadstar, Xilent, Specimen A, SPACE LACES, Calyx & TeeBee, and more. This is going to be a MASSIVE remix album to say the least. To hold us over until then Excision saw fit to release these two remixes of Crowd Control by Delta Heavy and Pixel Fist. Delta Heavy smashed their heavy drumstep remix with some of their gritty synths and fast paced drums. Pixel Fist fell a little short on their remix in my opinion, not really contributing anything out of the ordinary. You can get both remixes on Beatport HERE.
Hip-Hop, Trap | Captain Murphy – Shake Weight (TNGHT Version)
Posted by Sev on August 14, 2012
If you are a fan of the Trap game and haven’t heard of TNGHT yet, then you need to get to searching. Consisted of Hudson Mohawke and Lunice this dynamic Trap duo has been taking the scene by storm. After a good response from their first EP, lyricists are all over their hot beats. Captain Murphy is the latest to give TNGHT’s track Bugg’n a shot. Right off the start he gives off a Tyler The Creator vibe with his graphic, vulgar lyrics. It seems as though this Odd Future’s style has caught many peoples attention and become a wanted commodity whether you like it or not. You can grab this track as a free download HERE.
Dubstep | Mojo — Superman EP
Posted by Sev on August 13, 2012
Just released today on Buygore Records, was Mojo’s latest EP titled “Superman EP”. After Mojo’s last hit track Carnival I haven’t heard any distinctive tracks that have been worth while from him, until recently. This EP consists of four tracks each of which are unique in style compared to any tracks we have seen released lately.
Starting off with Superman, this track contains some smooth melodies alongside some distorted, overdriven sounds blended into a great progression. This is one of those tracks where the drop just streams straight through the track instead of blowing your ear drums into pieces. It serves as more of an emotional and easy going listen. In Warmin Up and Trigger Finger Mojo brings out the grimy, vigorous sounds that I could see FuntCase playing out at this shows, which means these tracks are no joke. They are the crowd pleasing tracks on the EP that keep the suspense in the intro and then crush the crowds in the drop. The last track on the EP is The Future, which is a mid-tempo styled track that reminds me of a beefed up version of what we see Culprate and Koan Sound making. Grab the EP on Beatport HERE.
Dubstep | Sunshine by Substantial Error ft. Luke Truth (DKS Remix) & Original Preview
Posted by Sev on August 10, 2012
First off big ups to Dubstep.net for racking this awesome exclusive of DKS’s remix to Substantial Error’s hit track Sunshine that is due for release September 30th. This track has been in the works for a while now as are most great tracks are, and people can’t seem to wait anymore for the original. DKS was thrown on the list of remixer’s later than most of the other artist, so I guess it turned out that his remix would be used more as a promotion for the original. Nevertheless DKS provides a more heavy, darker rendition of the original with some grimier sounds than the uplifiting original. You can listen to both below and download the DKS remix below as well.
Dubstep | R Rated #41
Posted by Sev on August 8, 2012
This first track for R Rated is provided courtesy of SKisM. Although it doesn’t categorize exactly as dubstep, it instead is more glitch/moombahcore, but still heavy enough to be considered in this weeks R Rated. SKisM always keeps it fresh with his tracks and giving away his second installment of the ‘Division’ Series today was a good start to the day. The actual release is on August 20th accompanied by a remix from drum & bass producer TC. Both tracks definitely pack a punch so be on the lookout for the release.
Moxix unleashed this heavy bass filled banger only a few days and it clearly hasn’t been getting the recognition it deserves. Mach and I had a mutual understanding that this track would not be left out R Rated this week, because it is one of those heavy bangers that is given away for free every so often. The quiet intro and build up can be deceiving to what actually takes place during the drop, so be prepared.
Trolley Snatcha released a free EP this week through Scion AV covering dubstep as well as some UK garage tracks. This collaboration with Foreign Beggars definitely turned out to be my favorites on the EP, as well as probably the heaviest track featured on the EP. I had a feeling we wouldn’t exactly be seeing the best he had to offer being that it was a free EP, but it wasn’t a lost cause. You can download the rest of the EP if you are interested along with this track through Scion AV HERE.
I was pretty surprised after I strolled through my Soundcloud to hear this freebie promoting the release of Doctrine’s free EP. I went in listening to this track with no expectations and I found myself bobbing my head and feeling this track all the way throughout. Although we hear the typical “Yoy” modern talking synths and the Flux Pavillion high pitched leads the combination of all of them turned out pretty well in this track. Although the rest of the EP wasn’t too enticing to me personally I still recommend that everyone take a listen anyways, which can be found in the Soundcloud description along with the free DL.
