Posted by Meezy on July 26, 2016
Come August 21 the windy city will be taken over by the one and only Diplo, and a handful of supporting acts, for Chicago’s take on the Mad Decent Block Party. The venue for the event is the First Merit Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island which is located just south of the city on a narrow strip of land along the coast of Lake Michigan, making it a very unique and sought after location. This is one of the many venues that is home to a Mad Decent Block Party this summer… Check out the entire schedule of Block Parties here.
For those that do not know, Mad Decent is a record label that was spearheaded by Diplo back in 2005. Aside from the music that they publish, the label is most known for throwing “Block Parties” in various major cities throughout the US. These Block Parties are single day festivals showcasing numerous acts affiliated with Mad Decent and are known for exposing upcoming talent to the public. Mad Decent Block Parties have been a major success and only prove Diplo’s dominance in the industry.
The bill of artists for the Chicago Mad Decent Block Party consists of Diplo, Drezo, GRYFFIN (DJ Set), Justin Martin, Kesha, Oshi, Rae Sremmurd and an additional surprise guest that has yet to be announced. As you may notice, this is a very diverse group of performers that are sure to make this an unforgettable night.

Mix | Jack Rabbit Radio | Session 004
Posted by Meezy on July 25, 2016
Annnnnnnd… the Rabbit is back, this time getting funky for us. Session 004 is more of a hip-hop/electro-funk influenced mix that is sure to be a great mix to sit by the pool and relax to throughout the remainder of summer. This mix really shows the rabbits diversity in music taste and has us wanting MORE… but, this will have to be on repeat for the next two weeks until Session 005. Enjoy.

Jack Rabbit is back and as good as ever… The third “session” of this mix series is made up of laidback electronic music that one can’t help but to nod their head to. Following his last two mixes which can be found here and here, this mix has us equally impressed and should help make the work weak more bearable… Looking forward to hearing what Jack Rabbit serves us in another two weeks.

We wrote about this profile about two weeks ago when “Jack Rabbit Radio | Session 001” was dropped… now the second installment of this series has us equally impressed. Session 002 has more of a dancey vibe than the last one and we can’t stop listening. It is a great mix to blast all throughout summer to keep smiles big and spirits high. This mix series has been great thus far so make sure to check back in two weeks to see what Jack Rabbit has for us…

Jack Rabbit Radio – a SoundCloud profile you’ve probably never heard of… but, we’ve been proven that it is one you should definitely get to know. The profile just posted a 30 minute long mix titled “Jack Rabbit Radio | Session 001” and stated that it is the first installment of a new biweekly mix series that showcases the music he is currently listening to… which we love. This first mix is comprised of all future bass, from both larger and smaller artists. With seamless transitions and great taste, we highly recommend you give this mix a listen and stay tuned to see what Jack Rabbit Radio comes up with in his next installment.
Albums, Events | Spring Awakening Music Festival 5-year Anniversary | June 10-12
Posted by Meezy on June 6, 2016
Come Friday, June 10th, Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) will be celebrating its five-year anniversary by throwing a 3-day party with a hefty lineup of artists. In addition to an impressive bill of performers, SAMF has recently revealed the layout of the new festival grounds, which look equally impressive. The festival contains 2 gorgeous stages, 2 tent structures and a silent disco. In years prior the festival took place at Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears… however, for the first time, SAMF will take place at Addams/Medill Park, which is a short 3 miles west of the old venue. The new location and festival grounds allow for more accommodations and a more maneuverable landscape for attendees… an idea that excites us all.
