Dubstep, Hip-Hop | King Fantastic vs. Noisia – Locals Only (Troublemaker Edit)
Posted by Jess on August 26, 2011

King Fantastic’s “Locals Only” was already pretty nasty but then Troublemaker had to go and combine it with some sounds from Noisia. The result is some wobbly west coast gangster rap that only King Fantastic could bring. This is not for the faint of heart.

Hip-Hop | Smokey Robotic ft. Eek-A-Mouse – Moonpot
Posted by Jess on August 17, 2011

Fresh off the release of their The Shark & The Helicopter LP, Smokey Robotic is back with a brand new offering with a feature that you wouldn’t expect. It is none other than the one and only Eek-A-Mouse, the Reggae legend from Kingston, Jamaica. His past hits include “Ganja Smuggling”, “Bitty Bong”, and “Juicy Juicy Weedy Weedy”, all of which deal with a very similar subject matter. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this song does as well. Roll one up and light it to this exclusive premiere of Smokey Robotic and Eek-A-Mouse’s “Moonpot.”

Hip-Hop | Pmac – One (Music Video)
Posted by Jess on August 17, 2011
This video is a little old but it really caught me off guard on just how dope it is from the song to the video itself. In it, Pmac rocks a chill flow over a beat that samples that one song you probably have heard at least once in your life. For me, it was the song my Dad always sung to annoy the hell out of me/get me out of bed in the morning. As much as that worn out the song for me, Pmac’s producer Rollie Beats flipped it to create dope Hip Hop instrumental that Pmac absolutely ripped apart. If you like what you hear, be sure to get your copy of the full mixtape that this song is featured on over at DatPiff.

Hip-Hop | Kenton Dunson – Top of the World Feat. Passion Pit
Posted by Jess on August 15, 2011

The talented Hip Hop up and comer, Kenton Dunson, who brought us the impressive project, Creative Destruction 2, has given FNT the exclusive premiere of his latest song “Top of the World,” which samples Passion Pit’s “The Reeling.” The way he flipped “The Reeling” is really something else and takes advantage of the Passion Pit’s unique synths highlighted in the beginning of the original. “Top of the World” is definitely a track to cruise around town to… windows down.
“The internet is the proving to be the most powerful tool for upcoming artists like myself. You can really see the world and when that world is moved by your art…it’s an amazing feeling. So I based the song partially from that but also wanted to release one for those of us who are not only ambitious, but actually act on it and eventually succeed. Once you achieve your goal, don’t look back…don’t come down! That’s the whole theme of “Top of the World”.” – Kenton Dunson

Electro | Les Strobelights – How Does It Feel (Original Mix)
Posted by Jess on August 13, 2011

This track is so dirty that even though it isn’t available as a free download, I needed to share it. Les Strobelights is relatively new to the electronic scene but with a release like this I am sure he will be making waves through the industry in no time. “How Does It Feel” is off his latest EP release titled Audioholic, which you can pick up on Beatport.

Hip-Hop | ZAK! Downtown – Poppin’ Pills (Music Video)

Hip Hop songs heavily reliant on a sample in the chorus are all the rage these days. Why not? It works and we can’t help but eat it up. Take ZAK! Downtown’s latest single “Poppin’ Pills” off his last mixtape Stuck To The Sidewalk for example. You are hooked on the song the instant it starts mainly because of the perfectly flipped sample. It doesn’t stop there though as the feel good guitar riff throughout the song solidifies it as a hit. I expect this to be the biggest release from ZAK! yet.
You can download ZAK! Downtown’s Stuck To The Sidewalk from his Facebook. Also, be on the look out for a 10 track mixtape from him composed of all original tracks coming early September.
