Hip-Hop | Charlie Like The River x Jacob Es x Fresh New Tracks Giveaway
Posted by J_Salzer on April 14, 2012
This is so sweet I wish I could be entering myself into it. Probably the easiest giveaway we’ve ever hosted, the only thing Charlie and Jake are asking of you are that you simply like their respective facebook pages. After that, you’re automatically entered in a random drawing to win a Charlie Like the River necklace, my favorite neck apparel. In addition to this great little contest, Jacob Es will be giving us the exclusive drop for his newest music video, and let me tell you, it’s dope. I’ve even embedded both of their facebook links below so all you have to do is hit a button, and BOOM. Could it be any easier? If you’ve already liked both facebook pages, just drop me a tweet here, and let me know so I can put your name in. FIVE(5) winners will be picked at random on the day of the video’s release, Tuesday. This contest is too easy to pass up my friends, so you might as well enter. Why not? Be on the lookout for Jacob Es’ music video releasing exclusively on FNT.

Just hit like guys.
Hip-Hop | Macklemore – Victory Lap
Posted by J_Salzer on April 9, 2012
There’s nothing that brightens up my day more than new Macklemore. Ben Haggerty is here to stay, and so is Ryan Lewis. The man tells stories, his music is unlike anything else out right now, and that’s what makes him special. If anyone disagrees, feel free to sound off in the comments and let me know, because I’ll back Mackelmore up to death(flame war). Ryan Lewis, the other half of this faboulous duo, can do no wrong. Every beat he crafts allows Mack to easily paint vivid pictures in our minds. Victory Lap is Macklemore’s piece off of the “XXL Freshman List Mixtape,” and it outshines everything, in my opinion. Grab the whole thing here, and take a listen to Macklemore’s track below.
Food For Thought: Macklemore is the difference between RAP and HIP-HOP. He’s an artist, not a rapper.
Hip-Hop | Young Prince – See You At The Show
Posted by J_Salzer on April 7, 2012
It’s been a minute see we had some good new material from Beau Young Prince. But he’s back with a vengeance, linking up with a band from his self proclaimed “hippy school,” of Guilford College located in North Carolina. The band provides an interesting beat that allows BYP to spit some quality bars. Fun fact: The first song I ever downloaded from Fresh New Tracks, over 14 months ago, was Strange Times(Prod. by Brenton Duvall) and I STILL bump that song on a daily basis. Be on the lookout, cause Prince is comin’ up.
Albums | Cello Kid – Soulstice + Waves
Posted by J_Salzer on April 6, 2012
One of the first artist I ever posted during my original blogging days(I won’t give you the link, it’s too embarrassing), Cello Kid, recently got back in to touch with me and I couldn’t be more amazed of the work he’s been doing since our loss of touch. He sent over his “Mini-mixtape” filled with hard hitting songs of about 1:30-2:30 minutes long. I’ve included my favorite two, but check out the whole thing here.
Hip-Hop | Jetpack Jones – Dharma (Mixtape)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 3, 2012
The wait is over folks. The mixtape that you’ve heard me yapping about for the past few weeks is finally here. Jetpack Jones drops off his latest creation, Dharma, for our ears to get wet on. Every single track is packed with a few things: great production, meaningful lyrics, and Jetpack flow. I’m sure all you FNTers have heard me rant about Jetpack before, because I feel like I’m posting him here every few days. However, he deserves every bit of shine. This mixtape has everything, even a feature from FNT frequent, Jacob Es. It’s always tough for me to pick my favorites from something like this, but if I had to chose, I would take: Time Flies, Right Here, Making Moves, and Contradiction. Support good music by liking his Facebook page and grabbing the full mixtape from DatPiff below.
Hip-Hop | XV ft. Freddie High – Now Let’s Go In(Prod. Awesome Sound)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 2, 2012
There’s nothing to bring me out of my Monday blues like some hot new Vizzy. A bit of an electric type beat from one of Donovan Johnson’s go to producers, The Awesome Sound. Nobody can jump on a beat and do what XV does to it, he has a unique way of changing anything he gets on. I’m not a HUGE fan of Freddie High’s verse, because it’s so tough to follow someone who kills everything like XV, but Vizzy’s verse makes this track a huge hit in my book.
Hip-Hop | Childish Gambino – Eat Your Vegetables
Posted by J_Salzer on April 2, 2012
The triple threat(rapping, producing acting) Donald Glover hits us with his latest single, Eat Your Vegetables. Gambino himself samples Donkey Kong 2’s “Water Level,” on the self produced beat. I’ve been a fan of Childish Gambino ever since I first heard Freaks and Geeks, over a year ago. People need to respect him for what he is, instead of hating on him for not being the typical “thug” rapper, they need to appreciate him for what he is, a comedian. Who can make some damn good music. How would you guys feel about me writing an editorial on my feelings on Childish Gambino? Sound off in the comments or catch me via twitter. Also, catch the ambiguous lyrics on Rap Genius if you need help understanding them.
