DVEIGHT’s ‘BLOODCLOT’ EP: A Cross-Section of Aussie Dubstep
Posted by VMan on July 28, 2024
Australian bass titan DVEIGHT is gearing up to release a fresh EP, ‘BLOODCLOT,’ through Sounds of Mayhem. Now out, this six-track banger highlights the lively and varied Australian dubstep scene, featuring killer collaborations with local talents like Dassim, CHIBS, Manly, Nexu5, VANM, and Knoir.
The EP captures a broad slice of the Australian bass vibe, bringing together artists from Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, and Western Australia. It kicks off with the fierce and introspective “Livid” and ventures into the video game world with “Astel,” inspired by Elden Ring. From the intense to the playful, ‘BLOODCLOT’ offers a mix of raw emotions.
A standout track, “Arvo Dub,” came from studio sessions with mates, where the chemistry was just natural and the song seemingly organically came together.
As DVEIGHT puts it, Sounds of Mayhem Recordings blend bass and metal, focusing on forward-thinking sounds that make you want to rage. The label thrives on themes of freedom, anarchy, and fun, as PhaseOne, the label boss, has championed.
In just six months, the label boasts multiple Beatport #1s and has snagged spots on top Spotify playlists like New Dance Beats, Rocktronic, and Dubstep Don. From pop up parties to being an all around cultural force for bass music, both Sounds Of Mayhem and DVEIGHT are ones to watch.
