Lilian Hak Returns With ‘I Will Ever Be Your Head,’ A Cinematic Statement

Dutch producer and songwriter Lilian Hak latest single, ‘I Will Ever Be Your Head’ is a meticulously layered blend of soultronic, indie, and cinematic pop, setting the stage for her upcoming album RESET.
Anchored by a deep bass riff, jazzy drums, and brass arrangements, the track finds its groove somewhere between Michael Kiwanuka, Portishead, and Lana Del Rey, yet still feels distinctly Hak’s own.
Lyrically, she pulls from Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice and Hitchcock’s Rear Window, exploring themes of digital isolation and power dynamics. “The song’s protagonist refuses to be manipulated,” Hak explains. “I am not your fool to tag.”
Hak has spent years crafting music that blurs the lines between theatrical, electronic, and pop realms. She has shared stages with M83, The Kills, and Kashmir, while her compositions have found homes in prime-time TV, major Dutch radio, and NYC’s WFMU.
RESET sees her pushing further, building on a foundation of intricate production and layered storytelling.
With ‘I Will Ever Be Your Head’, Hak is in full control – carefully constructing soundscapes that challenge, captivate, and refuse to be easily defined.
