The M Machine – Additional Faces
Posted by J-Tiffy on December 30, 2013
Madness – pure madness. I first heard this little piece of magic in The M Machine’s mix for OWSLA After Dark (My favourite mix of the year). It’s such a creative musical venture that it makes my head spin. Suspense is built well with an entertaining intro and build that introduces the beat. The power of the beat at 1:45 is Godzilla-sized. With a moombahish pattern and encompassing bass, it really takes me over. Then, out of no where, the song picks up into a wicked drum and bass shuffle.
The whole song is amazing in many ways, but as a friend pointed out to me, the most impressive illusion created here is that of depth. The sounds compliment each other perfectly, but it feels as though they do so from a distance. And width – I’m not sure that I’ve ever heard sound so wide. Huge, low bass and long, wide sounds add to the illusion. Without adding an overwhelming amount of sounds, these legendary artists have created a sound that is extremely full. This song is way entertaining and displays some next level engineering. Bravo guys, this is brilliant stuff.
