Progressive young guns Mako have just dropped an absolutely massive rework of one of their very first tracks, and let me just say that this Cali-based duo is not kidding around. Infectious hooks, huge builds, and vocals that demand you sing along all make “Beam” a necessary addition to your rotation as we (finally!) start heading into warm spring weather. This is a windows down, volume up kind of song and is certainly an indication of what we can expect from these two in the coming weeks and months. They may have let it slip that they’ve got some big and exciting things dropping in the not so distant future, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

I have a confession to make. I’m a sucker for huge tracks with female vocals. That should come as no surprise, as I was the one who personally coined the term “Girl Fire” in the first place. There’s nothing better than cruising home from the club with a bad chick riding shotgun with the windows down while you do your best David Guetta impression with two hands stretched towards an imaginary crowd hoping to impress said ladyfriend. Trust me, it works 50% of the time every time.

Don’t know what you’re working with on this first day of March but here in D.C. it’s 70 degrees out and far too sunny to be working. This day was made for the following things: 2.5 hour lunches (whoops), outdoor cocktails, driving with the windows down, and Felix Cartal’s latest banger, which features some great vocals from Miss Palmer (of “No Beef” fame) and an enormously infectious chord progression that I haven’t been able to get out of my head all day. Been a minute since we’ve posted straight up girl fire on FNT so be sure to give this one a listen. “Black to White” drops on iTunes on March 6th.

Mod Sun just released his most recent project, First Take: The Acoustic Sessions. He recorded this entire project in one night, all the songs are recorded on the first take without any effects. Pat Brown is playing the guitar and singing some of the hooks, while Mod Sun lays the verses. This is a nice acoustic compilation of some of his previous songs. I like these versions because you can really listen to the detail in the lyrics he’s written. The project definitely portrays the artist that Mod Sun is, whether it be his lyrics or painting his own cover art. Leave some feedback and follow Mod Sun on Twitter!
