Dubstep, Progressive House | Topher Jones & Amada – Hello Chicago (Remixes)

Posted by on November 10, 2012

Topher Jones’ ode to his hometown Chicago got the remixes the track was begging for to give it the lift it needed. We start the package with a rather surprising remix from Ashley Wallbridge. He is known for his more traditional trance tracks as a member of Garuda Records, but on this remix he takes a more progressive approach with a big room build and a growling electro drop. The Tom Swoon goes for broke with as big a drop as you can get with driving synth chords and a smooth build, emphasizing Amada’s vocals. Those Usual Suspects remix utilizes chopped synth stabs and a chugging bass line to give some variation to the melody. Fellow Chicago producer, Stratus adds some fast paced, crunchy dubstep to the track, taking a totally different path taen the rest of the remixes.

Trance | Kaskade ft. Skylar Grey – Room For Happiness (Above & Beyond Remix)

Posted by on November 7, 2012

After playing this out for the past several months and getting its TATW premier a few weeks ago, Above & Beyond returns the favor to Kaskade on remix duties and gives us a heavenly remix of his single “Room For Happiness”. The remix takes full advantage of Skylar Grey’s vocals and adds the emotive trance qualities that this track was almost begging for in the first place.

This release comes on the heals of their announcement of the rebranding of their 9 year tenured radio show Trance Around The World, which will now be called Group Therapy Radio. The announcement to end TATW suddenly at the end of episode 449 came as a shock to many and fueled speculation as to what was going to happen, but this rebranding gives them the opportunity to do play what they wish uninhibited by genre or name. It will continue after TATW 450, which you can hear live this Friday.

DJ-Set, Progressive House | Adrian Lux Remixed (Ken Loi & Bauer & Lanford)

Posted by on August 12, 2012

Two of the premier remixes for young Swede Adrian Lux’s debut album on Ultra Records are out from rising American star Ken Loi and fellow Swedes, Bauer & Lanford. They both employ similar styles in these remixes, adding big room synths to the original progressions laid down by Adrian Lux, giving the tracks more of a full body feel. Ken Loi gives “Angels” a bit of a grungier sound with some harder electro accompanying his melodic top line, while Bauer & Landford go all in on the big room melody with well timed stops and relaxing piano work in the build. Also check out Adrian Lux’s Summer Mix that features not only these two remixes but a variety of tracks such as 3 songs from the master Eric Prydz and more from A-trak, Deniz Koyu & more. Tracklist after the jump.

Electro-House | Wolfgang Gartner – Flexx

Posted by on June 13, 2012

Coming off of his mind blowing set at Starscape (review coming soon), Wolfgang Garter has released a new single that was one of the peak moments of his set on Saturday. “Flexx” brings us back to the Wolfgang Gartner sound we know so well with his incredible production skill after the melodic “Redline“. “Flexx” gives us that hard hitting bass line, an alternating synth lead and a guitar melody that sets the tone for the track. Chopped vocal bits add to the flavor of the track with various intricate synth layers. “Flexx” is yet another quality track to add to your collection from Wolfgang Garter as he shows no sign of slowing down and that 2012 may be his best year yet.
