About six months ago, an artist by the name of Sicarii flew onto the radar with his remix of SomeKindaWonderful’s “Reverse,” where he debuted his “smooth house” sound for the world to lend an ear. Back and better than ever, the NYC producer turns his attention to the illustrious Frankie Knuckles and his cherished original “The Ones You Love” to give it a modern twist that pays respect to the Godfather of house music. Pulsating bass jabs backed by mesmerizing drum work and Chicago-inspired samples, Sicarii takes on a behemoth of a task of doing justice to Knuckles’ legacy, and his regard for its origins earns his remix two thumbs up.
