House | Redondo & Boiler – Sunshine

Posted by on November 24, 2014

Is the video cliche? Yes. Does it feature sexual innuendo meant to sucker in the casual listener? Yes. Is this track a big ole’ tune? You’re damn right. Redondo & Boiler have been teasing us with previews (where it first premiered on The Magician’s “Magic Tape” series) and it’s finally out today. There’s no full track post, which is a bit of a disappointment. Understandable though, given the amount of people use Soundcloud to mp3 converters to rip tracks. The track quality isn’t ever the same, but I digress. Support Redondo and Boiler by picking up their latest Spinnin’ Records release. It doesn’t disappoint.

Progressive House | Crystal Fighters – Love Alight (Live City Remix)

Crystal Fighters - Love Alight (Live City Remix)
Nipping on the heels of their free, official remix for Magic Man’s “Out Of Mind”, Live City waste no time in releasing another freemix (free remix). Now they add their cheery, progressive take on Crystal Fighters tune “Love Alright”, who are reeling from the tragic passing of their much loved drummer Andrea Marongiu. RIP. Live City went the unconventional route with this remix and actually reached out to the band to remix the song, who had heard of Live City and gave them the go ahead to remix the tune. Thus this track was born and is now yours for free. Enj…. ust kidding.

FYI | Wildstylez Rips Off Deadmau5 “Some Chords”

Posted by on February 21, 2014

Dutch hardstyle producer Wildstylez (why does every hardstyle producer replace s with z in their name) recently released his tune “Straightfoward”, fitting in its own right, that just takes the chords from Deadmau5’s “Some Chords” and drags and drops them into his own tune. To quote deadmau5, wildstylz did not just take “some chords”, but all of them, in the same order, which makes this as bad as it could possibly be. I would not say this is on the level of will.i.steal, but it is pretty damn close damn close. Deadmau5 can be a prick sometimes, but he also isn’t afraid to speak his mind and going after someone who blatantly copied his song. I would say listen for yourself, but it is so obvious you will hear it the immediately.

Here is a solution. The damage has been done for both sides, bridges burned, images tarnished in the eyes of the other. However out of respect for deadmau5, because this would never go to trial, Wildstylez could pull the tune from iTunes, release it as a free download and credit deadmau5. The track is on his label so he doesn’t have too many hurdles to jump through. This will probably never happen, but I tried.

Electro-House | R3hab & Lucky Date – Rip It Up (Nicky Romero Edit)

Posted by on December 14, 2013

R3hab & Lucky Date - Rip It Up (Nicky Romero Edit)“Rip It Up” has the signature Lucky Date sound and grit that has made him such a hot commodity these days, notably on collaborations. It’s entirely likely that Lucky Date made the majority of the track and was later given the R3hab stamp of approval, literally and figuratively, but we will probably never know. With Nicky Romero adding his name to the mix with an edit, it was inevitable that this would turn out great. Get ready to see this one rip through sets this winter.

Progressive House | Avicii – Let Me Show You Love (Don’t Give Up On Us) (Tom Swoon Edit)

Posted by on June 9, 2013

Avicii - Let Me Show You Love (Don't Give Up On Us) (Tom Swoon Edit)You know the original track (still unreleased) from Avicii’s sets and may have a live rip sitting in your iTunes somewhere, but here we have an outstanding edit from Tom Swoon to give it a fresh sound and make it playable on large systems. Tom Swoon has a history with Avicii — whereas he has opened for him on several occasions and his tracks have been hammered out by Avicii for some time now. Tom Swoon does not mess with the magic of the original melody, simply adding his own big room flavor with driving synths layers over Avicii’s work. Do not pass up on this freebee from Tom Swoon as you head into the work week.

RnB | The Weeknd – Wicked Games (Until The Ribbon Breaks Reimagination)

Always a pleasure finding good shit. That is, Pete Lawrie aka Until The Ribbon Breaks with an already impressive co-sign from the one and only ”I put oooon”Jay-Z. ”I was born with my back to the stars. Turn me over. I would like to see.” says Pete. Metaphorically similar to how I ponder the good things to come from his future catalogue, that thought as my ethereal head nods to the rewinded visuals and smooth direction this particular track takes.

Albums, Review | A Belated Discussion of Random Access Memories

daft punk

By now, you’ve already listened to Daft Punk’s fourth album in full. You may have streamed it on iTunes, or downloaded the rip when it leaked (even though ain’t nobody got time for 192 kbps…), or perhaps you waited patiently and saved your first listen for the official, high quality, purchasable version. Your opinion of the album is probably already cemented.

But that won’t stop me from trying to change it.
