Progressive House | Pryda – Bergen / Recomodos

Posted by on November 26, 2012

After getting beaten to the ground by Eric Prydz on Saturday night, there is nothing like new music from the man himself. He played well past 4am, even as they turned the lights on in the venue and shut down his visuals. The man is about as passionate as it gets and did both NYC shows for no profit to himself.

His latest two track EP comes on the heals of his huge single “Every Day“, which he has been opening his sets with, and brings us back more to the melodic persona of Pryda that we saw on his 3 disc CD earlier this year. “Recomodos” dwells on the complex melodies that Eric Prydz is so deft at constructing, grounded on a chugging bass line. “Bergen” is much like one of his sets, it just keeps on building and building, slowly adding another layer that brings to a fever pitch that few can match. With an Eric Prydz album set to release soon, Eric Prydz, the melodic master, is set to make his worldwide domination of progressive house even more evident.

House | Richard Knott – Locus Solus

Posted by on November 5, 2012

As first premiered on EPIC Radio 003, this Richard Knott track continues the philosophy of label boss Eric Prydz of quality over quantity. Possibly based off of the eclectic book from Raymond Roussel, “Locus Solus”, gives us the vintage Pryda Friends sound that always remains unique in an increasingly crowded dance music field with its rolling bass lines, spacey pads and a distinctive lead.

When Fehrplay is not photobombing Eric Pyrdz’s pictures he is hard at work putting together great house tunes. Following up his two track EP, Incognito / Runaway, “Nightride” provides a totally unique sound with a funky bass line, a smattering of pitched effects, and male vocal bits rounding out this eclectic track. Pryda Friends always releases a unique, refreshing sound in the style of its headmaster, Eric Prydz and “Nightrider” fits right in. Also included is a much belated posting of Eric Prydz’s third episode of EPIC radio that recaps his summer US tour with a whole host of unreleased material including a song with Steve Angello that will probably never get released and his sublime “The Veldt” edit that blows all others out of the water. DJ-Set, House | Fehrplay – Incognito / Runaway

Fehrplay is another fantastic addition to Eric Prydz’s label, Pryda Friends that has seen an uptick in activity with new signings and releases not just from the label chief himself with the monumental release of his “Eric Prydz Presents: Pryda”, but also with Jeremy Olander, Fehrplay and more. Fehrplay gives us that sound that we have come to expect and love from Pryda and his label. It is a refreshing change of pace now where the trends have moved towards heavier and heavier bass and many of the same types of progressive melodies rule the charts. If you want a change a pace from your normal hits (nothing wrong with those, I love them too) and are into this sound, this is definitely something you will want to get. Also check out the second EPIC radio episode that includes a plethora of unreleased Eric Prydz tracks and several other hand picked tracks that he has been playing out lately and been getting a great reaction from.
