Some of you might remember Times New Roman from my interview with him a couple months prior to this post, and he’s back with some visuals for his banger. “Diamonds” off his “Demo” tape has caught attention from multiple blogs and it’s well deserved. With a little soul there, and a little hip hop here, and some dashes of indie and mo-town all in one, there’s no way TNR won’t strike your ear the right way. The 19 year old New York producer that goes by the name of Jimmy Q remixed Marvin Gaye’ sensual “Let’s Get It On” by chopping it up, layering it with a trap beat, and including a subtle sample of Nas’ “Nas Is Like” all for your listening pleasure. If you’re into classics being revisited to be more in tune with the sound of the times, this one’s all you! I honestly couldn’t even tag a genre for this remix, it’s a mix between tech-house, trap and old school hip hop instrumentals. Either way, this is a must listen and a must download!

Switchfoot? Middy have you lost your mind? I know they suck pretty bad, on par with Nickelback, but when Atlantic rolled out the remix package for their recent single “Who We Are” and then Dave Winnel sent over his remix, it became the first time I (and probably many of you) enjoyed listening to Switchfoot.
Dave Winnel adds something hard and menacing to the tune, while Michael Calfan goes for the route of his usual melodic self. Aussie duo New World Sound of “Flute” fame, provide their own take on the tune as well.

While perusing my SoundCloud stream I recently stumbled upon an emcee I was previously unacquainted with: YoAstrum. The New Jersey resident caught my attention with his unique voice and ability to lace a Mr. Carmack production with such grace. The instrumental was an absolute gem to begin with, so it was safe to say that I was initially nervous to hear whether or not it was done justice. Thankfully, it was, and thus began my thirst for YoAstrum music.

New comers to FNT, but definitely not unfamiliar to the scene, the self proclaimed “afro” boy duo The Golden Pony add their disco touch to an electronic classic remixing “Fuck The Pain Away” by Peaches, and it doesn’t get any more glamorous. This remix brings me back to the wild Studio 54 nights in the 70’s filled with sex, drugs, and disco, and I wasn’t even around back then. Talk about a throwback on a Thursday, all pun intended. As explicit as this song gets, the music is too damn good. If you’re trying to dance, this one’s for you! The track is also currently charting on Hypem, go give it a like here to help it move up the chart! This is a must a listen!
