Girl Fire | Germany’s Ardian Bujupi Enlists Mark Hardy For “Carrabean”

Posted by on March 8, 2015

Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut aber ich versuche mein besten. Rising german artist Ardian Bujupi brings the island vibes with his latest “Carrabean” single off his new “Ardicted” album. This is hands down my favorite song from the project and for good reason, as Ardian elistined the services of Mark Hardy, a rising Trinidadian artist who’s making waves with his infectious singles and collaborations. Be sure to support “Ardicted” available on iTunes. Keep an eye out for Mark Hardy. I expect big things for him in 2015. Awesome tune! Give me the dance floor. Bust the dance floor!

Pop, Review | An In depth Review of Alison Gold’s “Chinese Food”

Posted by on October 15, 2013

It is not often a pop song strikes me in such a way that I can’t stop playing it or thinking about it. The last time it happened was a couple years ago with what will forever and always be my favorite song, “Payphone” by Maroon 5. I loved it upon first listen, but then one fateful night my adoration for it got intensified in a very big way. I was 17 years old and at a house party. I had my favorite snapback on backwards and was leaning against the wall drinking a diet Dr Pepper when I saw a guy and a girl leave the couch they were on to go upstairs together for some reason, so I made my move and snagged a seat on the couch. I was just chillen there on the couch… by myself… like always… when a girl came over and sat next to me. She said “heyy”, I said “sup”. “Why aren’t you drinking a beer” she asked. “Not a huge fan of the taste” I replied. She then handed me hers, urging me to try it. I did of course because that’s practically kissing which is practically dating which was a big deal for me at the time. “It’s alright I guess” I said as I handed it back to her. Now I don’t know whether or not it was by accident, but the series of events that followed were the without a doubt the highlight of my senior year.

She just looked at me and smiled. She did that for like 20 seconds. When she sat down she sat extremely close to me, our legs were practically touching, it was actually quite rude of her. She then got up and as she was doing so her hand touched my arm and part of my upper thigh region. It was also at that exact moment that “Payphone” came on. I sat there in a state of euphoria until the song finished. She was also wearing flip flops so it was especially hot. I wasn’t quite sure if what had just gone down had in fact gone down but I looked across the room and the Australian guy who kissed me on the cheek against my will in the second grade was standing there watching and he confirmed with a series of head nods that it did.

I never thought my love for Maroon 5’s “Payphone” could be matched, but then I heard this. Press play, watch the video and I can only hope you experience the high that Alison Gold’s “Chinese Food” gave me. Once you check it out, click past the break to read my in depth review of perhaps the greatest pop song to come out all year.

Pop, Progressive House | Maroon 5 – Love Somebody (It’s The Kue Remix!)

My favorite song of all time is “Payphone” by Maroon 5. It is for that reason that I will always have a soft spot in my heart for them no matter what. I was already a fan of their original “Love Somebody” but DJ Kue made it that much better by adding a touch more energy to it and a great drop. I have had this on repeat since I first heard it.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop | Kid Ink — Money and the Power

Posted by on June 2, 2013

This kid has been around for awhile, but honestly I was just never compelled enough by what I had heard of him on features to give him a full listen. Last week he released his major label debut in the form of a six-track EP, Almost Home, which features the likes of Wale, Meek Mill, Rico Love, and French Montana, and after seeing that his song “Money and the Power” was getting a fair amount of praise, I decided to check him out. This is by far my favorite song off the project — it has an incredibly upbeat, catchy, and pop-oriented beat produced by N4 and longtime collaborator Ned Cameron, and Kid Ink has enough lyrical chops and charisma to win me over. He also, unexpectedly, has a pretty good singing voice. Take a listen below, and if you’re interested, you can find his full EP on iTunes here.

Exclusive, Hip-Hop, Videos | Jetpack Jones – Be Alone (Video) [FNT Exclusive]

Posted by on June 3, 2012

Jetpack Jones releases the video for my favorite song off his successful mixtape, Afterburners. The video, directed by Hunter Lyon, is fun and easy going. Featuring a couple fellas with water guns, and the classic shot of Jetpack delivering his rhymes in the beautiful Bay area. Be Alone has an addicting beat, crafter by TheGeekSquad, and Jetpack’s verses paired with a Cliff Savage feature make this song one of the most played songs in my iTunes library. Make sure you quickly hit the “like” button below and help Jetpack Jones reach 1,000 likes.

Events, Hip-Hop | Chance The Rapper – Cordial Invite

Chance Bennett is taking the blogosphere by storm. After the wildly successful release of his debut mixtape #10Day, Chance decides to give my favorite song off the mixtape the cover treatment. His vocals can grab any willing ear, while his lyrics keep them listening. The hook and chorus of “Prom Night” was already phenomenal, but was made even better with Chance crooning it soulfully. Chance The Rapper is on the cusp of becoming one of my favorite rappers in the game, and this only helps his cause. For all of our FNT fans in Chicago, grab tickets to Chance’s show coming up next friday HERE. I’ve gotten word that Chance will be doing something extra special so all of our Chicagoites better be there. Be on the lookout for more Chance coming soon. Also, like his fanpage below so you can say that you liked Chance before it was cool.

Wiz drops his first release of his upcoming project, Taylor Allderdice. If you didn’t know Taylor Allderdice is the high school Wiz attended and same with Mac Miller. I’d be willing to bet there will be a Mac feature on that project. This track is pretty dope, check it out.
