Reportage af bandet AUDIO DISTRICT
Danish disco, synth-pop trio Audio District have released the full EP for their new single “Reach For The Sky”. It includes not only the 80s-tinged original, but also some remixes from Rouze & Daytona and Lifelike. We are here to premiere the full stream of French producer Lifelike’s full remix. Lifelike adds some more sophistication to the tune, with airy synths that mesh impeccably with Audio District’s vocals over a simple and easy bass line. They add their french touch to the tune. Compilation | Dshaq’s Top Tracks of 2013

2013 came to an end with a lot of great music being produced in the second half of the year, where most of my focus was with a lot of my tracks for the list. Being the very indecisive person I am, I decided to create more of a playlist of downloadable/non-downloadable tracks. With a wide variety of tracks in the playlist, I think it covers some of the brightest up and coming stars in each respective genre mixed with Portugal. The Man, who’s Evil Friends album was my personal choice of best album of the year. Besides the indie/alternative band, my focus for my list was with the two Chicago rappers that I have watched blow up over the past year in Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa. Besides the two young SaveMoney stars, I began dabbling with the new and bountiful amounts of Australian producers making a name for themselves, with Flume at the forefront of that. A hard to describe genre that combines so many different complex and interesting sounds that mesh together beautifully is pretty much my best attempt at describing it. Wave Racer has to take my favorite artist of 2013 with almost every single one of his remixes and original productions getting constant playtime on my iTunes. Be on the lookout for a new What’s in Dshaq’s tape deck soon. Cheers to 2013 and hope everyone has a great 2014.

Albums, Hip-Hop, Videos | Sam Lachow Presents: Young Seattle Part 2

Posted by on April 1, 2013

Seattle has one of the hottest hip-hop scenes in the country. All of the sounds that come from there are unique, and the various artists featured on Sam Lachow’s Young Seattle are no different. The video itself is cool, and is filmed almost like a cypher. My favorite verse is probably the second, as Gift Uh Gab absolutely kills it. The verse by Sam’s partner in crime, Raz Simone, is also a work of beauty. Even though there are so many different types of rap featured in this video, it’s good to see that they can all mesh and all support each other. Check out the video above and download the track for free here.

A collab that came a bit out of left field, as previewed by Mark Knight & Sander van Doorn a little while ago, at first I was unsure what I was going to hear with how Sander’s sound has progressed in recent years, but this is a pleasant surprise. The track has all of the hallmarks of tech house leader Mark Knight’s sound, while turning back the clock with Sander van Doorn, turning up the tempo and borrowing some from his days of trance and mixing in some of his current big room melodic tendencies. Underworld’s soothing vocals mesh perfectly with the churning, techy, yet melodic instrumental.

Progressive House | AudioFun feat. Sean Declase – Come Together (Vocal Mix)

Posted by on December 22, 2012

Manchester native AudioFun, makes his return to leading Australian imprint Vicious, tabbing Aussie Sean Declase, who has a voice reminiscent of Mitch Crown, with the infectious vocal track “Come Together”. AudioFun provides uplifting progressive melodies and dextrous key play that mesh impeccable with Sean Declase’s addictive vocals. With its anthemic sound, this track is meant to be played loud and often.

Progressive House | Joan Reyes & Heren feat. Amba Shepherd – Perfect Crime (Fareoh Remix)

Posted by on December 19, 2012

Coming off of his “Lessons In Love” remix, Fareoh follows that outstanding remix up with another for “Perfect Crime” featuring the indelible Amba Shepherd on vocals. Fareoh delivers on a sublime melody, a quick alternating bass line and well timed stops that mesh perfectly with Amba Shepherd’s heavenly vocals. With vocal stutters and smooth piano builds easing into the drop, this displays two very impressive remixes in a row from the young New Yorker and shows he is a force to be reckoned with going into 2013.

Mixtapes | RAC – Solé Fixtape Vol. 3

Posted by on September 18, 2012

The boys over at Sole Bicycles are back at it again with their third installment of their signature “fixtapes,” teaming up with the Portland DJ Duo known as, RAC. RAC creates a fresh, funky mix with a wide variety of tracks that mesh almost too well. Appreciate the approach they took with this one as it features tracks that stray from the mainstream norm of big room synth’s everyone and their grandmother are slapping together these days. Download the mix, check out the bikes here, and as Solé puts it…”Vibe with us as you ride off into the future.”
