Somehow, in between the marathon sets, constant travel and acting as a label head, Markus Schulz has found the time to release the follow up artist album, his fifth, to his 2012 effort, “Scream“. The DJ and the producer go hand and hand for Markus Schulz as what he makes has to be ready for a set that could last up to 12 hours, something he does more often than most. This album, like “Scream” delves into the more melodic side of his sound, but injects bigger and trancier melodies than the first edition. Though Hakkasan has wowed Vegas and the world with its 100 million dollar price tag and the money it is shelling out for top flight talent, it does not mean other clubs are not getting big names in the EDM arms race taking place in Vegas. Marquee Las Vegas is also bringing in some premier names for their dayclub and nightclub parties like Armin van Buuren, Kaskade, Porter Robinson, Claude von Stroke, Dash Berlin, Carnage, Markus Schulz and many more. Events, Videos | Tomorrowland 2013 Live Stream

Tomorrowland has unvieled its new theme with an exploding volcano as the MainStage. Each day is being livestreamed on Youtube from 3pm EST until the end of the festival, with rebroadcasts after. Markus Schulz is currently on hour 8 or 9 of his 12 hour set, nbd. No schedule has been announced, but names like Sebastian Ingrosso, Tiesto and Afrojack are all on tap for tonight. You can also listen to Tomorrowland radio if you don’t want to listen to the cut screens

Mix, Trance | Markus Schulz 2-Hour Sunrise Set

Markus Schulz EDC Las Vegas 2013It is currently 3am here on the east coast. That means the sun’s rays will be peaking up over the horizon in just under 2 hours. What a better way to get ready for the imminent arrival of the sun then a set specifically curated for the occasion by none other then Markus Schulz. He has his own stage at Tomorrowland where he will be playing for 12 hours, so just assume there are few guys as crazy / hyper boss as him. Events | Electric Zoo Phase 2 Lineup Headliners

We are starting to get a full picture of how Electric Zoo will look this year after the announcement that it would have two mainstages. Electric Zoo is slowly releasing the names for those who will be coming to Randall’s Island on Labor Day weekend, following the first wave of artists who will take over the mainstages. Phase 2 fills in some of the gaps for the rest of the tents that give the festival its character and diversity, from the Sunday School tent to the Riverside Arena. As suspected, the festival has expanded from 4 stages to 5, so there will be more artists, more choice and inevitably more painstaking, heart-wrenching conflicts over artist time slots (Laidback Luke vs. Steve Aoki is not one… I hope I don’t have to tell you why).

Repeat from last year the Riverside Arena will see Dim Mak take over on Sunday, while Friday will see the joint takeover of Riverside by OWSLA and Boyz Noise Records and A-Trak’s Fools Gold Records on Saturday. The Sunday School Grooooove tent will have new proprietors with Adam Beyers’s Drum Code coming to town on Sunday to bring some techno in your face. There does not appear to be a trance stage, which is a bit disappointing, though Armin, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond and Markus Schulz are all on the lineup separately. Nobody as of yet has made their claim to any of the Hilltop days, but the lineup’s seem eclectic enough that they would lack a clear label owner. There are more artists to be announced, so do despair if you feel it is lacking in trance or house or dubstep, just wait, especially for the label tents. There is also the option to buy a Friday combo pack, where you buy a ticket for Friday + either Saturday or Sunday, so decide your festival experience. Tickets are on sale now, so grab them below. Events, Review, Trance | The Expedition’s Trance Takeover of Madison Square Garden

Wow, Wichita State is crushing Ohio State. This is not even close, who woulda thunk it. The bartender refills my glass as I watch the Shockers do just that, shock the basketball world and everyone’s bracket. Man was mine totally ruined, but at least I wasn’t the guy who picked georgetown to go all the way — dunk city. I look at my phone, 8:10. I am pushing the limit of how long I can stay at the bar because I need to get over to Madison Square Garden and sneak down past some security guards to a seat that isn’t in the obstructed view section. I close out and head over to the Garden to navigate the line and get inside.

The line is nonexistent, so I walk through and head up to the first level to probe the defenses of the seat security like a prized fighter trying to find the weak spot of my enemy. I see some other people dancing the same dance I am and as a group we would like to thank the kid in the teal tank who was escorted out of section 102 and left the entrance unguarded, letting the stream of approximately me and 4 other kids into the section. Thank you, because my seat put me dead center and I could see the entire arena laid out in front of me.
