North America – get ready, because Oliver Heldens is on his way. The twenty-year-old, Dutch phenom just announced a 12-stop bus tour with stops across United States and Canada that will kick off on February 24th in Denver, before making his way across the states with stops in Washington DC, Montreal, Dallas, Miami and more. Heldens has become a festival mainstay in the last few years, playing around the world at EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, Ultra, and more, but he’s showing everyone that he is just as comfortable in an intimate club setting as he was on massive festival mainstage. Heldens will be joined by the progressive house maestro, Throttle, and his fellow countrymen, Zonderling, on the tour, in addition to support from SNBRN in Washington DC and Boston. Tickets to Oliver’s bus tour stops are available for purchase here.

Electro | 5 & A Dime’s Newest Single Will Quicken Your “Pulse”

5 & A Dime has been on an absolute tear this year. The first single out of 5 & A Dime’s camp this year was “Pipes,” an electro house monster that destroyed the Ultra mainstage when DJ Snake dropped it this year, and the talented producer followed up that effort with another stellar original, “Wild.” Now, the mash-up-DJ turned producer has delivered his latest effort, “Pulse,” a surefire hit made for the mainstage. The build of “Pulse” is reminiscent of your pulsing heartbeat after a vigorous workout, until the Philly native unleashes a flurry of snarling synths and rolling percussion arrangements that will have you begging for mercy.

Till The Sun Burns Out

I very rarely put up mainstage anthems outside the Trance genre but today I got a taste of some uplifting vibes that took me on a major feel-trip. Sweda’s remix to the enchanting ‘Till The Sun Burns Out’ captures and lifts you high, with vocals so addictive you can’t help but keep the repeat button permanently pressed. He’s completely flipped the original – if you’re fans of groups like Lost Kings then you’ll fall in love with this timeless classic.

DO SOMETHING

Trance | Porter Robinson – Seas of Voices (Falcon Remix)

Trance warrior rejoice, because Falcon just brought forward what I deem as the best remix of “Sea of Voices” for 2014. The original was game-changing in itself and yet, Falcon found a way to integrate his artful epic progressions and created a timeless mainstage anthem. It’s already received ASOT support from the legendary Armin Van Buuren and Future Sound of Egypt head honcho’s Aly & Fila, so expect this tune to dominate the airwaves at a trance event near you. Falcon doesn’t take away from the underlying melody but adds his own touch of uplifting synths, carrying you away and communicating in trance a certainty of purpose. I truly have fallen in love this one.

House, Progressive House | Summer School – Control (Original Mix)

Summer School - Control

Every once in a while, Spinnin’ Records surprises me and drops a track like ‘Control’ that reminds me why this label dominates the way it does. I don’t know Summer School but what he’s produced right here skillfully breaks the barrier between melodic progressive and mainstage house. The buildup preceding the break is aggressive, with bass so refined that when it cuts into the synth progression mid way you can feel your body vibrate. The drop is nothing less than energetic, and as the name of the track so cheekily points out, you are now under the control of the DJ. Kudos to Summer School – he’s a name that one should definitely keep their eyes on.

House | Bream & Ron Carroll – Stars (Original Mix)

With a name like ‘Stars’ its already expected that we have a mainstage anthem among our midst. Guaranteed to capture the attention of an unsuspecting audience, Bream projects the very familiar Ron Carroll back into the spotlight. With lyrics that encrypt a sense of enlightenment, it is no surprise that ‘Stars’ has already enjoyed support from producers like Fedde Le Grand, Nicky Romero, and Swanky Tunes. Out November 24, 2014 on Flamingo Recordings, we invite you to add a dosage of inspiration to your future playlists.

Events | Five Things We Can’t Wait For At Electric Zoo 2013

Posted by on August 8, 2013

Summer is flying by, which is bittersweet on one hand but totally amazing on the other. Why? Because it means that we’re getting closer and closer to Electric Zoo’s blowout fifth year. If you’re not up on your EZoo life, check out our official recap video from last year and see what you missed. Yeah — it was pretty killer. Fortunately, this year is already shaping up to be bigger and better than ever for many reasons, not least of which are:

1) Two mainstages (count ’em, TWO) and an expanded festival site on Randall’s Island. More on that later.

2) A new 18 and up policy. Sorry, youths (#YOUTHS) of the world — I’m too old for your shenanigans and look forward to mingling with an older and wiser crowd. *Wheezes; testily gestures for you to GET OFF MY LAWN.*

3) A totally killer lineup — which is par for the course by EZoo’s standards. There’s lots to be excited about here, but we’ve come up with five things that we’re especially stoked for. Check ’em out after the jump.
