Last week Hoodie Allen gave us a preview of “Leap Year” with the release of the single “The Chase is On.” Well now that I’ve had a chance to listen to the whole project, it’s safe to say that “The Chase is On” was just the tip of the iceberg…this mixtape is chuck full of awesome new school hip hop. Hoodie Allen is preparing to drop his latest mixtape “Leap Year” in five short days. Luckily for us he sent over a little sneak preview of the song “The Chase Is On,” and even provided some visuals to boot. According to Hoodie

The all-so-buzzed about Hoodie Allen just dropped his remix of Jamie XX and Gil Scott-Heron’s original “NY is Killing Me” track. “NY is Killing Me” will be featured on Hoodie’s upcoming tape, Leap Year. The track tells the story of Hoodie’s love-hate relationship with the city (what makes it difficult to be there and even harder to leave).

Hoodie recently dropped some visual to go along with his newest track which samples Marina And The Diamonds recording “I Am Not A Robot”. Props to director Zach Goldberg for coming up with an interesting concept for the video. Check out Hoodie on Facebook and Twitter.

This easily could have been a single posted track, but I didn’t want to overwhelm everyone on their day back. This is a high quality track; great production, great hook, great verses, great style, I could go on all day… Our hip-hop fans should be into this for sure.

Is Brenton Duvall everywhere or is he everywhere? Seriously, he’s been hustling hard these past few months and it’s starting to seriously pay off. I’ve seen a number of up and coming artists hop on his beats and word on the street is he has some more collabs coming up with the likes of Hoodie Allen. In this latest project, Tayyib Ali flows over a smooth Brent beat that features a sample of Michael Jackson’s track, “PYT (Pretty Young Thang)”. I’m digging it so down it.

Hoodie Allen, the New York based rapper and U-Penn graduate, has graced anxious fans with “Dreams Up,” a new single off his upcoming mix-tape, Leap Year. With lyrics like, “I can dream big, I can dream fast,” Hoodie’s new track demonstrates his classic style with an unconventional and up-beat sound.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Hoodie by now. Pep Rally, the mix-tape he dropped last September, transformed him into an online sensation. With over 17,000 likes on Facebook, Pep Rally had bloggers and fans begging for more.
Sampling Oh Land’s “White Nights,” Hoodie’s “Dreams Up” has, four months later, done it again. Although a release date for Leap Year has yet to be set, Hoodie constantly updates his Facebook with information and will surely let fans know soon.
