First off, congrats to one of the best labels at remaining true to a vision that does not follow the beaten path, regardless of what the current trend might be. It has most notably been known for the releases of French super-duo Justice, but has also been home to the releases of Breakbot, DJ Mehdi, its owner Busy P and others. The label has always brought something different to the table and this show exemplified that.

If the name Ed Banger is not familiar to you, then I am sure pioneering French duo Justice are. Started back in 2003 by Busy P, the label has turned into a sanctuary of quality dance music, helping to launch the careers of Justice, Sebastian, Breakbot and others. On Saturday, November 2nd, the Ed Banger world tour will be making a stop at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC with a cast of Busy P, Breakbot and Justice (DJ set). With the announcement of a fall tour across the US, the excitement has reached a fever pitch over what to expect from Pryda with EPIC 2.0. The trailer was scintillating and displaying stunning visuals that we hope to see on the tour. He has only announced 4 dates thus far in 3 cities, which you can see below. More dates to come at some point, but for now, people in LA, NYC and Chi-town get out your wallets because Eric Prydz is coming to town and you aren’t going to miss this. Tickets go on sale, today the 23rd, 12pm local time.

Events | Swedish House Mafia Black Tie Rave @ Hammerstein Ballroom 2/28/12 for Hurricane Sandy Relief

Swedish House Mafia announced a little while back that they wanted to do a 5th New York show to support the ongoing efforts for Hurricane Relief. We now have the final information that the show will be held on Thursday February 28th, at Hammerstein Ballroom. 100% of the proceeds of the proceeds will be donated to the New Jersey Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. It is fitting that the event will be held at a ballroom since there is a strict dresscode of black tie and ball gowns so be ready to dance in your finest clothing. The event is 21+. Tickets will be auctioned off starting at the price of $100 on ticketmaster this Friday the 14th at 10am EST going up until the 16th at 10pm EST. On Saturday when the dance music community was fawning over the fact that Sensation was on the second night of its US debut (some of them would later show up at this concert) Nero, Adventure Club, Fareoh and Alex English were putting on a clinic at Hammerstein Ballroom. While there were some issues with the sound in that the bass all came from the floor speakers and the mids and highs came from the hanging speakers, the overall production and atmosphere was great. Alex English started off the night with a good, energetic warm up set as the crowd slowly started to file in. Fareoh followed him up with a big room set mixing in his own remixes and originals with some well crafted bootlegs.
