Progressive House | Sevag – The Heat

Posted by on July 28, 2014

sevag - the heatI saw Sevag open for Henrix & Wayne & Woods last fall and in talking to Henrix, he could not sing high enough praises for Sevag. Now close to a year later, the two of them have two collabs set for release soon, and Sevag has also become a favorite of Thomas Gold, opening for him at his Fanfare 100 event at Le Bain in NYC, as well earning a slot on Governor’s Island this weekend. His first single on Cr2 Records, “The Heat” brings exactly what it claims to do with in your face, tribal percussion that is both groovy and powerful. Grab the tune below and get ready for much more Sevag.

Events, Review | Paris & Simo @ Lavo NYC 7/27/13 (Review)

Paris & Simo LAvo NYC

Anybody familiar with high-end nightlife in NYC, knows Lavo and its reputation for an incredibly strict door, good-looking patrons, over-priced drinks and top-line DJs. There are plenty of places in NYC with the first three, but few have added the last one to their repertoire.

On this particular night, I was a bit sluggish from getting home from a rather aggressive night of drinking with Moiez the night before, thus I was hoping Paris & Simo would bring it to keep me going. After quickly crushing a Red Bull at a nearby Duane Reed, a walked down the familiar block of 58th in between Park & Madison, seeing drunk dudes and chicks spilling out of cabs and town cars, yelling at each other as if their hearing was already gone before they made their way into the proper line. Navigating the line is an art, pushing your way through entitled VIPs and b-rate models, just hoping to be seen by somebody, it is your job to be noticed in the mixture of plastic…. and plastic.

Progressive House | Wayne & Woods vs Henrix – Jumangee

Wayne & Woods vs. Henrix 'JumangeeSo if you are reading this, the elephant from the Jumangee game did not come out and crush you. Good for you, however it means you still have to survive this being played during festival season with possibility of some roided out muscular guy going apeshit next to you and elbowing you into the next century. Problem. The first official release from Wayne & Woods since signing to Size Records, we are starting to see why they were given such a high vote of confidence by label boss Steve Angello. Henrix proves again why his percussive beats are to be reckoned with this festival season. Another track in the long line of “festival drop” tracks, look for this track to both chart well and to be played out often this summer as festival-goers appetitive for these type of tracks seems to be insatiable. Also here is some footage of Henrix from his show at Governor’s Island with Hardwell, Dyro and Audien.

Hardwell, Dyro, Audien & Henrix 5/26

Ready for a Sunday funday to remember? New York people, Governor’s Island Beach Club is getting ready to open back up for the summer after a star studded cast last summer that included performances from Dash Berlin & Tritonal, Alesso, Thomas Gold and Gareth Emery. On Sunday, May 26th, Hardwell will be joined by Dyro, Audien, Henrix and New York local Alex English for an 8 hour marathon event from 4pm to midnight on Governor’s Island with its beautiful backdrop overlooking the lower Manhattan skyline. If you want a variety of big room beats, this lineup has exactly what you want, ranging from the percussive heavy tracks from Henrix, to Audien’s brand of euphoric trance. On the heals of his massive Ultra set and his sold out “I am Hardwell” show coming up, the Dutch star is the logical first headliner for Governor’s Island. Tickets are now on sale, so grab them while they are still cheap / before they sell out.
