The more I listen to this song, the more I love it. It flawlessly combines dark, club elements with happy vibes from the Coldplay original. He keeps much of the original melody and the vocals, while adding his own spin on it with a quick moving snare, an infectious whistle top line that will get stuck in your head, a dark, grungy melody to give this track almost a dual personality with the various styles coming together and mixing impeccably. You have to expect this from a veteran such as Stewart Price and we will see more from him soon. Also check out his Essential Mix recently aired on BBC Radio One, which despite his longtime friendship with Pete Tong and support from the radio station was his first mix. It combines a plethora of different sounds from nu-disco to techno to tech to progressive and everything in between. Tracklist after the jump.

Lost in all of the WMC and UMF madness was the fact that Alesso was featured on BBC Radio One’s legendary Essential Mix show. Alesso really makes the most of these 2 hours flawlessly transitioning from one song to the next making the 2 hours fly by. You will hear the best of from the past couple months including “Trio“, “In My Mind” and “Rise“, as well as the best songs he has put out in his career. He puts together some really good bootlegs, combining the old and the new. He plays a whole host of unreleased tracks from himself and others including Avicii – Silhouettes (could it be a sign of a release at some point this year?) and the electro bomb “Boss” from Jonas Torn on Le7els. He plays his collaboration with Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso “Eclipse (Why Am I Doing This)“, the radio world premier of the vocal mix of his upcoming single “Years”, Alesso’s remix of Keane – Silence By the Night that he has been raving about and a brand new ID from Alesso that is really something special (as seen above, ignore the “ID3” title, it is just an ID). This Essential Mix rivals Arty’s for early contenders as Essential Mixes of the year, so hit play and let Alesso take on a two hour EDM journey. Tracklist after the jump.

I must edit my post yesterday about “Matisse & Sadko Monday” because this song has been released a day early and I could not be any happier. As first played by Arty in his essential mix, this song represents pure bliss, euphoria, happiness; it is simply an amazing song. The vocals combined with the production from Matisse & Sadko makes this easily one of the best songs of the year so far.

Finally we we have the official preview and release date of Arty and Matisse & Sadko’s massive track “Trio”. It is to be released on the 5th what I am dubbing “Matisse & Sadko Monday”, because their remix of M-3ox feat. Heidrun – Beating Of My Heart, as played by Arty in his Essential Mix is also getting released. The Russians are coming and there is nothing you can do to stop them. Sebastian Ingrosso released his the second episode of his podcast “Refune Radio”. He continues the trend from the first episode of exclusive and unreleased in the second episode with plays of Nari & Milani – Atom, the aforementioned “Trio”, Axwell’s edit of NO_ID’s massive track “How R U Feeling Right Now”, and more. He catches up with Alesso and they talk about hey they met and came together to collaborate and Seb plays their collaboration “Calling (Lose My Mind), as well as Alesso’s upcoming single “Years”. A great episode with another to come after WMC, which should include some brand new tracks from artists there as well as a clip from a new original track from the Swedish powerhouse. Electro-House, Progressive House, Trance | Hard Rock Sofa – Quasar Preview, Arty Essential Mix

I hope you all are as excited for “Quasar” as I am because the song is bigger than most. Arty premiered last night his first essential mix, masterfully weaving together a 2 hour mix of his own songs and songs of others to create a 2 hour ride of melodic, uplifting trance and house. Arty needs no introduction, but Pete Tong in his announced that Arty has forthcoming collaborations with Knife Party and Axwell, which should create some absolutely massive songs. Arty plays a few of his upcoming tracks including the much anticipated “Trio” with Matisse & Sadko, his “Walking Alone” remix, set to release on the 15th, a massive remix from fellow Russians Matisse & Sadko and some mashups he plays out to create this 2 hour journey of euphoria with Arty. DJ-Set, Electro-House, Progressive House | Essential Mix & Selection W/ Madeon, Porter Robinson & Chuckie

On Friday night, BBC Radio One had a special show from Hull in England with Pete Tong’s Essential Selection show that included a spectacular 20 minute guest set from Madeon, included below, as well as a bonus 4 hours of Essential Mixes from Chuckie, Porter Robinson, Fedde Le Grand (not recorded) and Judge Jules to finish off a marathon night at Hull. Chuckie puts together a fantastic set with some of his new stuff such as his upcoming single “Together”, with his impeccable ability as a live Dj and great song selection. The mix that really stood out for me was Porter Robinson because as his is such as good live Dj, which seems to be a lost art these days and as a 19 year old, it is even more impressive. He is able to flawlessly mix together multiple songs, two or three or more at time, to create ridiculous bootlegs that will always keep you on your toes with a fantastic song selection.
