Hip-Hop | Divine Rhyme – Loungin’ | Chill Hip-Hop

Posted by on June 13, 2011

Divine Rhyme seems eerily similar to a gnarly artist I can’t put my finger on, can any of you FNTers out there throw me a bone with this one? If you missed this duo the first three times around the site, don’t slip up again (and yes I’ve thrown some previously posted tracks for those of you that fall under this category). I’m always taken away by these guys crisp production of chill beats backed up with strong lyrical skills. Rather than continuously pumping out tracks to stay in the limelight, Divine Rhyme meticulously refines their tracks until they’re satisfied with the end result. For more information, check out their Facebook Page.

Illiphant and Scribe The Verbalist fall under a similar sound as Divine Rhyme so it only seemed fitting to throw them into this post. From what I can tell, Integrated Visuals is one of Scribes first public works but in my opinion it’s his best. To check out his other projects head over to his Facebook. Shouts to @BigDaddyAw for the tip.

Hip-Hop | CHILL RAP | Divine Rhyme “All Of The Lights”

Posted by on January 6, 2011

I’ve decided I need to start hanging around musicians and dancers because I just love when girls are in their element performing. Although my spidey ears tell me the vocals are slightly off here and there, just watch the video above and tell me you didn’t get caught up in it for a second. This may sound a little different from the usual Divine Rhyme track but that’s the point. This is the first installment of a side project by Divine Rhyme called “The Northern Lights” which has a more mellow sound to it. I’m really digging this. A LOT.

Hip-Hop | CHILL RAP | Two New Divine Rhyme Tracks

Posted by on December 17, 2010

Do I ever let you down? Here are two brand spanking new tracks from Divine Rhyme that showcase their unique style. Sir Sheck and Jahizzi started Divine Rhyme back in 2008 at Lehigh University while hosting a hip hop radio show together. After freestyling every week on the air, they decided to start making records and performing at local spots on campus and New York City. Since then the duo has opened up for The Roots, Cool Kids, Blu and Kidz N The Hall. This past spring they toured with FreshNewTracks’ affiliated artist Sam Adams on Stoolapalooza. These new tracks come off their EP, “Central Park Sessions,” set to drop in the spring. Check them out on Facebook

Hip-Hop | CHILL RAP | Divine Rhyme and People Under The Stairs

Not much in the way of hip hop this week so I’ve switched it up a bit by throwing some mellow tracks your way. I’m waiting on Divine Rhyme to send over a few new songs but in the meantime use “Everyday” to get familiar with their dope vibe. Did anyone else catch 50’s tweet about the 3D glasses company he recently took a stake in, “Tweetin with my gunnar glasses on trick! u aint got these suckas. get ur money right ima get like 50 new hoes wit the” check the picture out here, it just about sums up the baller stereotype. Those are fresh I might need to pick up a pair.
