Hip-Hop, Rap, Videos | Chance the Rapper – Acid Rap Live

Posted by on June 3, 2013

It takes a lot to leave a blogger speechless. So I’ll do my best to come up with words to describe the Austin Vesely filmed documentary of Chance The Rapper’s live performance. It begins with about 3 minutes Chance performing his normal routine. My favorite, is the emotional rendition of Chain Smoker. The tone of the video is quickly changed after Chance calls out some friends of his to perform the passionate second half of Pusha Man, the lost verse, if you will. In the lost verse, Chance implores the media to take a closer look at the inner city violence taking place in Chicago. He doesn’t go about it in a rude way, but rather takes a softer, more dignified approach to help save the city that raised him.

Chance the Rapper has had a whirlwind year, and is easily the hottest up and coming MC in the country, atleast in my opinion. The second half of Pusha Man shows me that this 20 year old Chicagoan won’t be going anywhere in the next decade, he’s here to stay. Some rappers mention their love for their city in songs, and that is all well and good. But this rapper is calling the media to make a change, and that’s rare. So hop on the Chance bandwagon while you still can.
