House | Lift Off #001

Posted by on June 29, 2012

There are a lot of great house tracks that slip between the cracks during the weeks as we try and post the best stuff that comes out. Lift Off is a new segment that will help to amend those crevasses and give us a chance to post a lot more submissions that showcase more upcoming talent from here in the US and around the world. The name “Lift Off” is that euphoric feeling you get at a festival having the greatest time of your life; it is the peak of celebration. In this there will be previews from time to time, songs on Beatport, lots of free tracks and maybe support for a Beatport contest if it is really good. This is not necessarily a weekly thing, it all depends on the rate at which the music collects. Enough talk, as the legend Pete Tong says “Welcome to the weekend”.

Tommy Trash starts us off with his club mix of his collaboration with Moguai on his latest album Mpire that takes the great original track with a Daft Punk flare and gives the drop a much needed boost to it. Listen above and get it on Beatport or iTunes.

John de Sohn provides a superb progressive house remix utilizing Max C’s signature vocals dextrously. With a chopped uplifting melody and a rising synth and quick moving piano melody in the interlude you will want to hit play. Get it on Beatport.

Under appreciated Adrien Mezsi teams with Italian duo Rayven & Valexx to give us “Domynos”, another uplifting progressive track (you see the theme developing here). A melodic, clap driven build crescendos into a euphoric synth driven drop with a growling underlayer and thumping bass. Get it on Beatport.

Moguai is getting some heavy work in this first edition of Lift Off with the Tommy Trash remix of “In N Out” and now his remix of Wally Lopez – Keep Running The Melody. He brings in a big room melody in the build and interludes with a simple yet effective percussive drop ready to make clubs and festivals ignite. Get it on Beatport.

Continuing his great 2012, Feenixpawl contributes a lively drop to his take on the infinitely remixed “Lights” by Ellie Goulding. More free tracks after the jump.

Electro-House, Progressive House | Rihanna – Where Have You Been (Live City Remix)

Posted by on May 18, 2012

Live City gives us an aggressive take on Rihanna’s hit “Where Have You Been”. Giving the song a live makeover with heavy dutch influences, Live City takes song and flips the instrumental into their standard electro madness we have come to expect from them. With subtle piano leads, dutch infused electro breaks and an impressive interlude of progressive synths and chopped, distorted vocals, these guys impress me more and more with every release.

Also after the jump are two more remixes of “Where Have You Been” from Averez & Kevin Miller. Kevin Miller provides a more progressive take on the track with uplifting synths in the break and Averez gets into the track with hard hitting bass and a grimy electro drop.
