Preview, Progressive House | Mat Zo & Porter Robinson – Easy (Preview)

Posted by on November 24, 2012

First premiered by Mat Zo at Trance Around the World 450 / Group Therapy Radio 001 in Bangalore India, “Easy” has all the makings of being the follow up to “Language” and “The Sky” from Porter Robinson and Mat Zo respectively. A collab born from their time touring together (you can catch both of them in Chicago on New Years) and a blossoming friendship, this track combines the best of both worlds from these two, bringing out the melodic side of Porter’s sound with subtle gruffness, while adding the eclectic nature of Mat Zo and adding addicting vocals to make it a totally unique track. No info on release date, but it should be out soon on Anjunabeats / Ministry of Sound.

Trance | Sunny Lax – Isla Margarita / Naida

Posted by on October 29, 2012

My lights are flickering like crazy right now, but no matter, the music does not stop. Hungarian, Sunny Lax gives us this smooth two track EP drenched in warm melodies that while it may be a hurricane outside, you can feel warm and relaxed inside. Anjunabeats knows how to find the right tracks to release and coming off Bluestone’s huge release “Capetown“, this two track EP that bridges the that illusive gap of trance and house is yet another top of the line release from Above & Beyond’s stellar imprint.

Trance | Bluestone – Capetown

Posted by on October 8, 2012

Israeli trance producer Bluestone may have just gotten his big break with this stadium sized trance track, combining distorted vocals, an emotive top line, powerful synths and a pulsing bass line. Bluestone has been working with fellow more established Israeli Maor Levi on producing tracks like “On Our Own” that appeared on Anjunabeats vol 9, however it was time for him to deliver his follow up single release to “Namaste” on Anjunabeats. This track has been supported by Arty, Thomas Gold, Gareth Emery and Above & Beyond among others, so let the warm, soothing melodies of Bluestone take you away to a better place.

Trance | Norin & Rad – Five Finger Death Punch / DeVas

Posted by on September 20, 2012

Orange Country trance duo Bruce Karlsson and Nick Sember, better known as Norin & Rad, have been on the come up for quite some time with releases on all the big trance labels, Anjunabeats, Armada, Coldhabor, Enhanced, though their natural home has been Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats. After watching them crush it at Electric Zoo on Friday at the Group Therapy stage, they follow up with this two track EP that includes the heavily supported “Five Finger Death Punch”. It starts with flowing, spacey chords that gain steam with an accelerated melody and bass line and then hit a break of chugging percussive beats. “DeVas” may be the little brother of the two tracks, but it is one one you would be remiss to overlook.

Albums, House, Review, Trance | Jaytech – Multiverse (Album Review)

Posted by on August 15, 2012

Jaytech is a producer whose sound is always unique and fresh. He is in the class of producers who take aspects of trance, house, progressive, tech and mix them into a unique blend that becomes their own individual sound. After releasing his first artist album “Everything Is Ok” back on 2008 on Anjunadeep, Jaytech takes his talents to the flagship label of Above & Beyond and gets his new album “Multiverse” released on Anjunabeats, showing not only his growth as an artist, but also the growth and inclusiveness of different styles of the label as well.

The title of this album is really perfect because it is “Multiversal” in sound and style from song to song, always keeping the listener on their toes with his funky grooves, techy baselines, trancy top lines and emotive vocals. The album starts with a housey track “Everglade” with Seranade on the vocals that gets Jaytech’s second album effort started with a bang. It commences right of the bat with a chugging bass line, while introducing the vocal bits, smooth strings and subtle synth chords giving this track groovy, yet melodic properties. “New Vibe” is the only previously released track on the album and while I think he could have included “Echo” from the two track EP including both songs, “New Vibe” is superb choice showing the prowess of Jaytech with the more trance side of his productions. Trance | Audien – Eventide / Unity

Posted by on August 6, 2012

Connecticut native Nate Rathbun or Audien makes his emphatic entrance on Anjunabeats with his two sided EP, Eventide / Unity. Blurring the lines of trance and house, Audien has a sound similar to fellow Americans, Norin & Rad and that of plenty others in the Anjunabeats family. “Eventide” provides gorgeous melodies alongside a pounding bass line and quick piano motifs. “Unity” is a little more aggressive and energetic than “Eventide” starting with the electro stabs that have become synonymous with trance these days and a driving clap, riding an uplifting synth melody with deft key play. Audien is definitely a name to watch out for with his trance / house fusion sound.

Trance | Above & Beyond – Small Moments Like These

Posted by on June 26, 2012

When Above & Beyond releases a song, the world listens and when it is free, the world downloads on sight. They have the ability to make songs that pull out emotions that you did not know were possible to reach through music and tug at heartstrings unlike any artist I have every listened to. Their live shows have been compared to a religious experience, something I can vouch for, and by the end you will see many people with teary eyes. “Small Moments Like These” is an ode to all the great times they have had on tour, with their fans and with each other at Anjunabeats in the past year and want to share that joy and emotion with their loving fans through the best medium they know, music. If you have seen them live, you will be hard pressed to keep a dry eye all the way to end of the video and if you haven’t yet for some reason, this should convince you to see them the next opportunity you get. They make some of the most beautiful music being made right now and this is no exception.
