Electro-House | Hardwell & W&W – Jumper
Posted by Middy on August 5, 2013
Will the exception of “Never Say Goodbye“, we are seeing a shift in Hardwell’s taste from a more melodic sound from years past, to something more built to the mainstages he is being billed to play. It makes sense he would sign music that would work for that type of audience, since his label is the music he wants to play. He has one of the strongest and loyalest fan bases in dance music and they will go anywhere with him, even if he decides to start making generic festival-styled house.
This collaboration between Hardwell & the unstoppable Dutch duo W&W, has been in the works for a long time and been one of the most requested IDs from both Hardwell & W&W’s sets for many months. “Jumper” relies on potent grinding saws, a thumping kick and big room interludes. With the “1,2,3, JUMP!” vocal already built in, there is no need to use some other similar vocal to implore the crowd to do what they probably were going to do anyway. It is nice to remind them that it is their job to jump though.

Electro-House | Ummet Ozcan – The Cube
Posted by Middy on July 23, 2013
Living in the Netherlands, but from Turkish descent, Ummet Ozcan has found his way to forge a path in the increasingly crowded dance music landscape, where the saying “imitation is the highest form of flattery” is taken waaay too literally. His relatively new bombastic style that has helped catapult him to larger mainstream success is what you now know to be Ummet Ozcan. With “The Code” still a prominent track this summer, he has wasted no time resting on his laurels with efforts like “Here & Now“, “Airport“, and now “The Cube“. As a follow-up stylistically to “The Box“, with some updates in his current sound, Ummet Ozcan goes 3-dimentsional with this track, as he upgrades from boxes to cubes bringing his full-bodied bass lines and thunderous synth leads to this heart-racing single.

Electro-House | TJR – What’s Up Suckaz
Posted by Middy on July 22, 2013
There are few who can survive working with Mr. Worldwide with their artistic reputation almost entire unscathed. TJR did just that because the tunes he makes are so unique to him, that you accept one chance to get paid and exposed to millions of new listeners like that. “What’s Up Suckaz” is his latest single on Chris Lake‘s Rising Music, a relationship that has worked very well for both parties, that evokes the style that we have grown fond of hearing from TJR. With a bouncy bass line, gritty, grinding saws and well placed vocal samples, this track is a unique cut and sure-fire hit in a climate where watered down hardstyle kicks and triplets are easiest road to mainstream dance music success for producers.

Electro-House, House | The Robot Dentist ft Aaron Knute – Here Forever

A few weeks back I was put onto The Robot Dentist, the winner of The Discovery Project EDC New York, by his manager Graham. He recently sent over this track that we shouldn’t sleep on. I’ve personally had this track on repeat all morning. “Here Forever” is anthemic, melodious, and has all the right drops to get everyone dancing and raging. Aaron Knute’s folksy vocals also elevate this track to a whole other level, almost reminding me of Avicii’s latest release “Wake Me Up.” This track is a must listen and a must download!

Electro-House | DallasK – Heaven
Posted by Middy on July 19, 2013
Having finally hit 20,000 Facebook fans, as promised, DallasK has released his previously previewed single “Heaven” as a free download. Free releases for social media milestones tend to be token gifts of gratitude, whether it is a live set, a bootleg pack or a re-release of something old. Rarely do you get something good for free and that is exactly what DallasK has done here with “Heaven“. The track expertly samples The Killers “Somebody Told Me”, crafting a sturdy bass line and grungy electro, adding pitched chords as the track progresses for additional complexity.

Electro-House, Videos | Tommy Trash – Monkey In Love (Video)
Posted by Middy on July 15, 2013
As a follow-up to his previous music video for “Monkey See, Monkey Do“, Tommy Trash presents the visuals to his single coming on Size Records next Monday, “Monkey In Love”. Using the same monkey, the video follows him as he is engaged in a steamy romance with a smokeshow of a brunette (Mia Doran) and their activities throughout some deindustrialized center. Watch the weirdly hot video below and be on the lookout for this track next Monday, the 22nd.
Electro-House, Preview | Showtek Feat. We Are Loud! & Sonny Wilson – Booyah (Preview)
Posted by Middy on July 13, 2013
Hardstyle ambassadors to the electro scene and the creators of some of the biggest tracks in the recent couple years (including some or many of Tiesto’s), Showtek preview their latest output alongside We Are Loud and Sonny Wilson on vocals. This reggae infused track combines the hard-hitting electro-style (electro house and hardstyle, I may have just been made up right now) sound they have crafted for themselves in the past few years that others have rushed to try and copy, with both some rock and reggae elements in the instrumental and vocals that really give the track its character. As usual, you can expect a well-produced track and something that could creep its way into sets this summer as a change of pace from many of the generic minimal drops being produced now. Release is coming August 19th on Spinnin, so you will have to wait over a month for this.
