Our third episode premiere for Something Big, we are proud to present the 52nd episode of The Stafford Brothers weekly podcast that brings on some of the biggest and best names in dance music to give the behind the scenes story on how their recent tracks were made. Live City & the edm Jesus, Tommie Sunshine, collabed last year alone 5 times, so it is fitting that they would get right to it in 2014 with another remix effort. They unleash a fireball of a remix, with an acid-tinged, electro drop, over a punchy, rolling bass line. These three have been coming together on some big tunes, and this remix is no different. Switchfoot? Middy have you lost your mind? I know they suck pretty bad, on par with Nickelback, but when Atlantic rolled out the remix package for their recent single “Who We Are” and then Dave Winnel sent over his remix, it became the first time I (and probably many of you) enjoyed listening to Switchfoot.
Dave Winnel adds something hard and menacing to the tune, while Michael Calfan goes for the route of his usual melodic self. Aussie duo New World Sound of “Flute” fame, provide their own take on the tune as well.

W&W release a new solo original once every 6 or so months, “Thunder” being their last one, and they seem to dominate the dance music landscape whenever they do. Thunderous as ever, “Bigfoot” is as big and powerful as we have seen a tune from W&W, with the detail that separates them from their countless imitators. W&W have created another seismic bomb with “Bigfoot”, so prep your speakers and your ear drums for when this hits stores February 10th.

We first introduced you to Illenium’s melodic dubstep single “Drop Our Hearts” and then gave you the exclusive download of his powerful, glitchy tune “For Truth“. Now the date has come for Nick Miller, known to an increasing number as Illenium, to release his debut EP as a free download.
He kicks off the EP with a bouncy tune that gracefully adventures in Melbourne bounce, but remains in tune with his sound with the two step beat. In between “For Truth” and “Drop Our Hearts”, Illenium delivers “Souls”, a deep, bassy tune in the style that has become quite popular in Colorado and seems to be his forte, though the diversity in this EP makes it hard to pinpoint one definitive sound.

It seems like yesterday when MAKJ hit 100,00 Facebook fans, but with success of “Countdown” alongside Hardwell and recent touring, MAKJ has doubled his Facebook total in only a few months to 200k. To celebrate he has given away a new single “Mad Max”. It samples the sounds of cars accelerating, drawing upon his youth as a professional race car driver in China, while adding his electro house pizazz and a churning, rolling bass line. Dutchman Maddix makes his debut on Spinnin’s imprint for up and coming acts, Oxygen, with his latest tune “Rampant”. We saw his potent, melodic electro style in his previous originals and remixes, and here he ramps it up a notch, unleashing a relentless fireball of a tune with powerful electro saws from start to finish. Also if you aren’t feeling the whole Beatport link thing, grab his recent free remix he did for South African band Pestroy, that he did while hanging out with them down in SA.
